Whilst I’m definitely in favour of remembering those we have lost, I prefer this before the game..I’m sure we’ve had a situation where such applause starts almost coincident with the opposition scoring..

It was bloody embarrassing because it looked like we were applauding their goal.

I heard he wore size 9 boots so can we have it in 9th minute Silence or applause before kick off is respectful and honoured by everyone. Everyone knows why it's happening. Having read how complicated this is to arrange, wouldn't it just be a whole lot simpler to just have the minute silence at 2:59pm and then start the game rather than stop the game at what could be a crucial moment in the game? Why does the silence have less significance by being before the match?
