Purely a curious thought, any whisper of what comes next if he leaves, retires etc? Do we think he would sell to another wealthy individual? Would the club work without him financially? Could gavin run it without him?thinking out loud here .

Talked the other day to someone who knows the family, they have no interest at all in football or Doncaster. Once he leaves, that's it.

As I said the other day on here, there will be plans in place for the future well being of the club.
TB isn’t a man who leaves things to chance.

All major companies have succession planning so will we, pretty sure Terry will have a number of people that he will probably offer first refusal to but then we would go on the open market and hopefully it will be sold to the right person or group of people

Terry is very much alive and enjoying this promotion. Don’t presume to predict the future it’s no that long ago Rovers didn’t have one until John Ryan came along and Terry is in his place and the club is in a better place now !!

This is a pointless thread, because this subject has come up at the last 2 meet the owners events.
There is a plan in place by Terry and the club.

Inthebox don't get me wrong I think Terry is 100 percent the right man to lead us right now and in the near future, I was just pointing out that he and Gavin will have plans in place should the worst happen

Revisiting this thread because while I was watching the video of Day 2 in Spain just now,  the thought struck me that those pictures looked very much like we are in a period to savour. It won't last forever. It might not last long at all. But the Rovers, today, have an obviously wonderful group ethos, they have a damn good manager, and, above all else, they have an owner and Chairman to whom we should all bow our knees and give humble, grateful, thanks. These are special times in the life of DRFC. I can't think of any other period in my lifetime when so many stars were simultaneously aligned.

Let’s not forget Dave Rennie’s astounding appointment either. Medically the club has never had a better set up with players adhering to their individually designed ‘off season’ fitness regime & as a result Grant was able to say “Last season we had 97-98% of the squad coming back fit. Those that hadn’t stuck to their individual fitness programme were soon found out & as a result they didn’t feature in the squad when the season kicked off. This year 100% of the squad ‘hit the numbers’ we expected from them when they came into day one of pre-season training”.

The players are not only ‘buying into’ the fitness regime they are given, they have people they clearly trust & listen to in order to be the best they can possibly be fitness wise.

The new facilities being built at the training ground will serve up the very best players need to train, recuperate & recover quicker after injury.

The manager, the coaching team, the chairman, the ground & come November training facilities to match most outside of the Premiership.

Why wouldn’t you want to play for this club?

Actually, I've been remiss. I intended my generalisation around the group ethos to include backroom, executive, support and medical staff as well as the players and coaches. But, on reflection I think that should have been made explicit. And, of course, we wouldn't be where we are today without the exemplary Chief Executive. Within the guidelines and boundaries set for him, he is clearly responsible to a large extent for the Rovers looking, behaving and being a Championship club in waiting.

Echo those observations. I've never known us as well prepared. As eluded to in recent interviews with McCann and Rennie, these foundations were planned over 12 months ago. We're not throwing money at it but investing in the infrastructure to give us the best possible chance.

Whether that's McCann's persuasive influence on TB and GB using his experience of managing at Championshop level, who knows, but clearly there's a mutual understanding of what can be achieved. So far, that belief is filtering down to the players and the fans. Long may it continue.

The thing with football is that there are so may good examples of good practice at other clubs to use as a blueprint, it just depends on how much money you are prepared to spend. DR and his staff won’t be cheap, the training ground work won’t be cheap, the inflated squad isn’t cheap. This is all down to Terry’s willingness to spend.

Without a doubt for me the most pivotal decision in all this was the sacking of Schofield and bringing back McCann straight after the season ended. 9th may he got the sack and McCann was in by the 12th. Can’t recall us ever being so decisive and didn’t see it coming at all with the way the club was being ran. Was it good fortune that McCann was willing to come back to us or was his arm twisted by someone on the board. Either way since that point the whole club has aligned with positive appointments in key areas off the field and naturally everything on the field has fallen into place. I think it was Gary Neville on Sky said what you see on the pitch is direct reflection of what is going on upstairs and I couldn’t agree much more with that.

It was great to hear the likes of BBC Radio Sheffield talking about how Rovers are a club doing the right things both on and off the field. Proper bo.

Pinter778, you're not be any chance related to a certain man that got done in London by the police with a bag of charlie in his glove compartment and two junior Rovers players in the car?

Disagree, with proper succession planning for the future. We can build on what we have now

The credit is mainly down to one individual at the Rovers who at times has come in for undeserved criticism by some on here. Especially the Neto brigade in the past.

Couldn't agree more. I have littel doubt that the work going on behind the scenes and the facilties are all things being carried out with his leaving in mind. The playing staff strength is a hug positive but its the infrastructure and faciltiies that will help us forge forward in the coiming years.

It will be a dark time when he leaves and hopefully he will stay around for some time but I have sneaky suspicion that the goal is Championship football again in the next 2 to 4 years, when and if thats provided could be the sad day he departs
