Chris Wilder sacking.

I know it’s ‘old news’ but what a shocking decision.

They only lost out on automatic promotion because Burnley & Leeds got 100 points. The play off final was a ‘bizarre’ result.

The Blades have only one season left of parachute payments then I fancy mid-table mediocrity in the Championship for them.

Dyche rumoured to be on their list of possible replacements.

I wouldn’t call it “old news”, I don’t think they’ve officially announced it yet?

But as the OP suggests, it’s harsh on Wilder considering the Blades gained 92 points during last season after he inherited a squad of habitual losers.

Apparently the owners want to start using AI to recruit new players, whereas Wilder is more in the ‘Ay Up’ school.

Getting rid of a good manager for no real reason, but then there is no reason in club owners nowadays.

Football in Sheffield is not in a good place at the moment, can’t see Rohl staying at Wendies

Now if the Blades had appointed Rohl that would have been very amusing.

Struggling to have any sympathy for Wilder, he’s an absolute arsehole.

It's also crazy how some of there fans talk about him with utter contempt, after all he's done for them

Sacking Wilder for Selles seems like a sideways step at best. However Wednesday are outdoing them in the basket case stakes at the minute.

Players unpaid, manager desperate to leave, training pitches half renovated but without clear evidence of funds to finish the job, north stand at Hillsborough on the verge of being condemned, Owls in the park festival cancelled, and no match day revenue for another month plus. The transfer fee embargo hitting today is the least of their worries.

Someone will step in and save them at some point but it's going to get a lot worse before it gets better for them. It's not the players who are the real victims though, it's the club staff who will be on 20-30k a year who will up shit creek.

Selles will not get Sheff Utd into the Premiership.

He wouldn’t appreciate the gulf between the two divisions or what it takes to build a side to compete in the Championship in my opinion.

Yes he is Jonathan and is his own worst enemy. I think his indiscreet actions, especially his overboard criticism of the Wendies did him no good at all. That said you look at his record and it surely won’t take him long to get another job.

He has worked in England long enough to understand what’s required.

Wilder wasn’t sacked because he’s useless, he was sacked because his methods didn’t align with how the owners want to operate.

Not unlike Sean O’Driscoll when he refused to embrace ‘the experiment’.

Let’s see how this one pans out.

I’ve stated my views.

The club are becoming another basket case!

But who cares, as long as Grant is not in their thoughts.

Wonder how much Blades paid Wilder to pay off his contract when they sacked him? And if I was him I'd  be demanding a higher salary if they now want him to go back there. Good 3 months for Mr Wilder...!

I'd imagine he's still being paid by Blades after his contract was terminated. Nice little sabbatical for him.

Speaking to a Sheff U fan and Billys name is being tipped for a coaching role along side Wilder.

Such a good choice by the chairman, perhaps he ought to think about his own decisions and what it has cost United.

Has Billy got his coaching badges ?
Would we ask for a transfer fee ?
Would he want to end his playing career ?
Also I if Chris Wilder does go back, which seems very likely, he’ll no doubt take Alan Knill with him as head coach/assistant manager and keep the coaching staff that is already there as he’ll have worked with most of them, including Gary McSheffrey

Billy is at the beginning of his coaching badges journey.
The way he is playing I would be astonished if he gave it all up just yet.

Billy actually spoke about this on five live with Colin Murray on a Sunday morning a few weeks back. He didn't rule it out, but said he is enjoying playing for now.
