Possible I spose, but I've not had anything coming up, and, would that last for a month?! I suppose the other alternative could be paranoic imagination!

BobG

Scawsby Steve beat me to it Bob; acid reflux was what I was going to suggest.
I had it on and off for years until it reached a peak and got diagnosed.
Medication has sorted it 100% for me.

Lansoprazole?

You bet Steve!

Literally a life-changer for me, my New Best Friend!

Well, just when you think we might start to have a decent stab at naming a starting XI, McCann's gone and blown everything wide open again.

I think I'm back to naming  just three with reasonable confidence. TLT, Bailey and Molyneux.

The good news is Wycombe won't have a clue either!

Who, of the starting XI v Boro deserves to keep their starting spot?

The three who I would go for are Nixon, Senior and Gotts (depending on formation at the back of course)

who would you be leaving out to fit those three in?

Clifton
Maxwell
Crew?

Crikey, I even forgot about Broadbent but yes, I would bench Maxwell and Clifton.

Wycombe under this manager are meant to be a very intense pressing team.

Would not be surprised to see us play more direct to Hanlan today looking for runs in behind.

Ironside off the bench if something isn’t working perhaps.

I’d be surprised if Ironside makes the bench (but hope he does as I think we’re better off with that option)

I agree on Ironside being our best hold up forward and can see his role becoming a winner against some defences this season .I guess Grant’s backroom staff analyse this from match to match .We are well served with support staff in this new regime Grant has established.

Sharps hold up play is a bit underrated imo. Yes he’s not winning flick ons but if you play into his feet or body he retains possession well. In tight areas he’s got a bit more awareness like with his assist v Boro.

Against a deep defence I’d back him unless Ironside is fully back to his best.

Totally agree. We've looked much better with Sharp using all his experience and guile to make defenders lives uncomfortable. Just that instant lay back for Close's goal the other night is an example of how he links things up.

Yes, it's hard to imagine McCann having two strikers on the bench  so likely one of Hanlan or Ironside to miss out. With the opportunity for Hanlan to play against his former team, we may see more from him than we have to date.

Really shocked that Jay is in the team, he looked a bit short of fitness and match speed to me against Boro.

On the concourse there was all sorts of tripe being spouted. For me we were very very very good from minute 1. We are a striker short of being a promotion candidate. We are getting better and better. Fully deserved the win there.

We are going to get our first win at the riverside and a score draw with Wycombe!

Seems I should put the lottery on…

Despite my concerns I think Jay did really well, overall against a strong, fast and great passing team we did well, we edged the first they edged the second.
We looked a bot leggy second half and they just got stronger.
7 points from 9 is a really good return, with plenty of room to improve.

Decent point on the face of it, the sort of team that we generally don’t relish playing but with a lot more quality than your Bromleys, Newports etc.

Out muscled one on one for their goal eight yards out for a fifty fifty ball and ended on his backside, a poor goal to give away for a defender.

Gibsons pressing led to the our goal. I’m like a broken record but he needs indulging like some of the other lads are. He’s one of our very best players.

Totally agree, we were much weaker when he was subbed off.

Out muscled?
That goal came from molyneux losing out on halfway line, McGrath then did well to win the tackle but then senior had been attracted to the ball and left his man all alone who had all day to cut inside and kick his spot. Didn’t see any defender being out muscled

We have 7pts from 3 games we all would have accepted that.
What did yesterday show Wycombe had pace throughout the team also liked to grab players when being overtaken. They played a lobsided formation. Left back was more a wing back. I can see why GM played Bailey at RB he had the pace and strength to cope with their overloads I believe Nixon would have suffered there.
The other choice would play Close instead of Crew close one but again their pace in midfield could have been the deciding factor although I felt Crew was not at his best. After the subs our midfield lost control and Wycombe were better. I don’t believe Ajayi in the 10 role worked and he ended swapping with Molyneux. Defensively apart from their goal we were good we should have cleared the ball.
Now the problem area for me the lead role up front. Billy works his socks off and with a couple better through balls to him may have scored more than 1. Hanlon different player we saw on one occasion on the right wing he has pace but I’m not sure he is the man to play down the middle.
We move on to Huddersfield another difficult task especially away from home. Will we have fit players Bailey was sat on the pitch at the end Crew took a bad tackle before being subbed. Grant as the squad it will have to be used.

Crew had onviously been given a job 2nd half to man mark their No30. Clifton took on that role when Crew was subbed

Your right Dickos 1, there wasn't a lot contact he just ended up on his backside, I thought he had put more of a challenge in until I saw the play back highlights.
We have to be better than that eight yards from goal.

Managers and coaches get some things right and some things wrong.

GM's substitutions at Mansfield won us the game. His substitutions yesterday nearly lost us the game. Different games require different solutions. That's how it will be throughout the season.

All in all, we've made a very decent start to the season.

He slid and won the ball, the ball then fell to the man who senior had just let wander into the box all

Why was Close not in the squad for Saturday.... injured, or just rested after the game on Tuesday...?

We’ve got more than 18 players, so some will always miss out.  I reckon Close will get another chance soon, after last weeks display.

I would think close may be involved tomorrow.
Charlie crew got a nasty knock early in the game, and my view was that could be a reason why he underperformed. I expected that he would have been taken of a lot earlier than he was. Would be surprised if he starts or is involved tomorrow.
