Rotherham still not sold out there end

At present we have sold 2,274 tickets for our South Yorkshire derby with Doncaster Rovers this weekend.

Not great is it.

Rotherham fan in peace.

To be fair, you brought 1800 to us on a Saturday in August 4 seasons ago. We seem to be in a similar state now to what you were back then. We’re a shambles behind the scenes, crap on the pitch and our away record for the last 3 seasons has been terrible.

Think you’ll do us Saturday although I was pleased to see Molyneux an injury doubt

Good post, Miller. I was there that day 4 seasons ago. I said to all the Rovers fans around me that this was the worst Rovers team in more than 20 years, and that we'd be relegated. They all looked at me gone out.

You won 2-0, but if it hadn't have been for the red card you got, you'd have thrashed us by more, which you did do at the Keepmoat, 6-0 in the p*sspot cup, and 5-0 in the league.

Thank God things are better now for us, with a good chairman owner, and GM as manager. We're doing well, but it will still be a tight game on Saturday.

All part of supporting clubs like ours. Late 2000’s I was jealous of you in your new ground and Championship football. The tables turned a few years later for a decade or so and now it looks like they’re turning back again. I’m sure in another few years we’ll get back on top and the cycle will keep repeating.

Miller, I'll start by saying that I hate your club with every fibre in my body, it's only natural with us only being 12 miles apart and I'm seeing a lot of shit banter about who is the bigger club.
Begrudgingly ill admit that yous have been better and bigger than us over the 40 years that I've been a Rover.

I've seen some horrendous results and performances dished out by your lot.

On a club/town/city potential growth debate then I would say that we have more potential to grow, it just needs someone with deep pockets and a vision to get us there and keep us there.

TB has deep enough pockets. His words not mine and the way he, with GM and GB have reinjected life back into the club gives us hope the club can continue to grow organically without throwing disproportionate amounts of money at it.

Both clubs however have owners who aren't getting any younger so all they can do, is get each club to the healthiest state possible.

I’m going to guess a total attendance of just over 11k

Agree, probably 8500 ISH home fans and 2500 away would make sense.

Probably, I think I overestimated for the Wycombe game too. Just a 500 increase  on home support is a bit disappointing even given the early ko for TV.

The fact that it is on tv might make some people decide to watch the game there rather than turning up at the Eco.

It's on TV every week. Every man and their dog has got one

If you mean that everyone has a fire stick I can guarantee that statement isn’t true.

Nearly everyone might have a fire stick or Amazon TV but not everyone knows how to or wants IPTV or whatever it's called, I for one have no idea how to get

Perhaps he was saying that anyone who chooses to pay the price of match day streaming on Rovers Player (or whatever it is called these days) can watch it.

After tomorrows cup game its on to a big local derby v Rotherham who are now slowly starting to build a decent squad again and with coach Wood and past goalkeeping coach and even interim assistant manager Andy Warrington have good past relationships with our club Andy playing 196 first team games for us and 205 for Rotherham.
I watched Rotherham pre season at Harrogate and looked far better up front than in defence, and no great shakes as a team, have pace in wide attacking areas and on the dayin Jordan Hugill as a striker looked a hand full and quick and completely changed the game in the second half after a goal less first period.
After their game v Wigan which ended 2-2 their manager Matt Hamshaw  pointed out that the team were looking as if they are now starting to gell and with players like Dawson, Raggett, and our ex left back Reece James have experience right through the team and players that have been round the block.
At Harrogate they still used the long ball to an extent but not as much as under Warne's tutelage and were not the quickest side at the back I have seen, so I expect a close hard game as ever against the old foe, but have hope we can come out on top.
Our side could see changes to our starting eleven at Port Vale and is becoming hard to predict as injury and loss or better form in games are considered, and we still have time to add that elusive front man, add Grants reading of the team to play against certain teams there always seems to be a surprise in the starting line up of late.
That is always one of the main topics of matches coming up, what would be your line up?
Rotherham like ourselves after a great time for the club are having to have a little reset after flirting on more than one occasion in the heady heights of the championship, and they will be a threat this weekend no doubt to us, but longer term are they a team you fancy to threaten the top of the division this season?
Can we put one over them?
Can we keep our good start going?
An early kick off, a local derby, a big crowd expected, and rain expected at the moment, are you going to the game?
More than usual on the game for supporters of both sides with bragging rights at work or in the pub.
Lets hope for a good game and a Rovers win , lots to discuss , please have your say.
in the  league we have had Huddersfield who put us down because we couldn’t take our chances and  the end results demonstrated , this is why McCann is looking for a finisher who can cause problems and put the opportunities away . My gripe  is , we’ve known this for a few seasons and loaned strikers have helped . Rotherham will know we can’t finish regularly enough , so I expect them to go hell for leather in the first half as we don’t usually turn up until the 65min when 3-4-5 subs are needed to get us over line . Playing the first half against the second half is a tactic that if you do it too often will come unstuck . Playing to win the first half and let Rotherham worry about the second .. 1-1 if we continue with our current style or  form .

We certainly were at it in the first half of the matches against Wycombe, Huddersfield and Middlesbrough and should have scored more goals than we actually did.
The quality of our play overall this season has been very good but we need to put away more of the chances that we are creating.

Regards ticket sales I know of 3 regulars (one ST holder 2 buy tickets per match) who can't make it because of the 12.30 kick off. Just one to consider when bigger numbers are expected.

Rotherham are 9/2 today for a win they seem really good odds for a derby match I know there away from is poor but still

If they'd have bothered to turn up there'd have probably been 13k+ today. Seen they've sent loads of tickets back. Seems to be us 5 years ago now but not as useless as we were back then.

From what I saw at Harrogate Rotherham are not that great a side, but what they do have is pace and strength up front.
Jordan Hugill especially looked very good quick and strong with a good first touch a player we don't want to get one one one with our defenders.
They also fired balls into the area quickly taking full backs down the line, the right wing especially looking very quick and direct.
So I would definitely start Pearson whose pace about matches McGrath's and is the more experienced better defender with a better first touch, but mainly we need to play the majority of the game in their half, as they are no great shakes themselves at the back or in midfield and if we are on our game we can get a result.
I would also start Crew over Close because of his better all round game especially off the ball when we are under pressure, players are not going to be able to have a lot of time on the ball without being challenged it will be a scrap.

Fairly routine win that. Don’t think they ever really threatened us. Not our best performance but a pretty easy three points.
