Players out on loan

  Not a great weekend results wise for any of the teams that our young players out on loan play for.
  Just like any professional football nowadays results generally in non league like the Premiership especially is determined by how much money the clubs can afford to pay the playing staff, the merry go round of the better players moving clubs for more money  probably higher in numbers than in the EFL.
 All the four players we have out on loan are with clubs not that fancied to do that well at their level being not any of the better off clubs financially at their level, which should be taken into consideration, its about their development and improvement not results of the team, they are there to get game time and hopefully help to keep their sides at the level they are at and hopefully a little cup run for finances.
  Will Flint, Kyle Hurst, and Sam Brown's sides were on the wrong end of five nil defeats but individually did ok, in the case if Will the game was already lost as he came on at 62 minutes and did well himself according to a mate who watched the game.
  Kyle Hurst found it difficult to get in the game with service to him being sparse, but worked back as cover and had a couple of runs in attack.
  Sam Brown came up against second in the league Fylde who are one of the money sides in the National north league and was in a side largely over run in the game and was subbed off on 62 minutes but worked hard and never gave in a trend in a young player.
  Bobby Faulkner had his first league start  for Harrogate in a one nil defeat. In the game he had a battle with a giant of a centre forward, came out on top in fact the Crawley player was sent off for a late tackle on him as they carried on their war. In the NON League Paper he was a seven which backed up the Harrogate supporters MOM award so had a great start individually was spoken of highly in the managers after game interview and nearly gained his side a point when a header from a set piece struck the back of one of his team mates and deflected wide for a goal kick so unlucky not to start with a bang.

Faulkner started his third game of the week against Swindon at Swindon on Saturday who in the Top two of Division two.
  Harrogate got away to a surprise start an took the lead and were unlucky not to go further ahead hitting the post and missing a very good chance in a first half in which they more than matched  Swindon and with Bobby having a great start to the game looking solid.
  Again they conceded just before the break which changed the dynamics of the game with Swindon pushing on, and making substitutes that have class and experience at that level and Harrogate picked up a couple of injuries that affected their shape.
   They held out quite well until  the 71st minute with little between the teams but conceded a good goal and Swindon dominated the rest of the game. scoring a third goal just before the end that was harsh on Harrogate to a point but a bit of a recurring problem  conceding and not taking chances.
  Bobby himself did ok, for 70 minutes very well but as the team lost shape was pulled out wide lost a bit of control. All round a good 6/6.5.
  Will Flint was a unused sub at  Wealdstone where Kyle Hurst had a great game bringing out a worldie from the keeper got an assist and 8 out of ten mark on the NL Paper.
  Peterborough sports won their first game under the new manager Phil Brown in the FA cup against against Hornchurch who are top of the Southern section while Peterborough Sports are sitting bottom of the Northern section so a bit of a surprise although the northern section is considered the stronger.
  So a new manager with contacts at that level managing a side that just missed out of the play offs last season and a challenge for Sam to establish himself again with no doubt more experienced players being brought in.

 For anyone that are interested Middlesbrough v Gateshead is on you tube broadcast tonight with Kyle Hurst and Will Flint both starting the game.
  7-30pm KO

  Kyle Hurst  unfortunately picked up an injury just before half time in a heavy tackle that took him out, when he was one of the few threats to the Middlesbrough's defence and had to come off.
  Looking sharp and fit with the confidence to take defenders on it stunted his progress after also playing well in last weekends game.
  Will Flint played the full 90 minutes mostly doing well against a decent attack and not exactly getting a lot of help from wider defenders and and a midfield in front of him ,areas where the sharper work and pace was in Middlesbrough's favour. With his partner in central defence they played well under constant pressure Will not playing in hjs preferred position but doing ok.
  So both did ok Hurst standing out in an average side and hopefully not too badly injured.
  Gateshead would be better served playing Flint as a defensive mid fielder where he would offer them more control of a game.

  Faulkner had a really good game against Shrewsbury today in an early Kick off that allowed me to watch both games including the Rovers, which was a disappointing result and an untidy game with AFC Wimbledon once again just a spoiling football team who seem to get away with it.
  In his fourth start he recorded his and his defensive team mates second clean sheet that was the foundation of Harrogate's win.
  Playing every game on the left side to accommodate others who are right sided only and not as comfortable on the left, it seems to make little difference to his defensive ability, quick, good in the air, a great tackler with strength to fend off the physical challenge, and with the playing experience in sides not that good is seeing enough of the ball to improve technically visibly, and is fast building his reputation as an accomplished uncompromising young  defender Strikers will not enjoy playing against, and once again is becoming a firm favourite with his loan clubs supporters.
  At the moment Will Flint is not getting the rub of the green at Gateshead and came on as a sub in the 86th minute partly because the side does not really employ a central defensive mid fielder his best position, a modern position hard to play and not normally trusted by managers to youngsters.
  Kyle Hurst however is getting the game time in and is proving his worth in an average side in the National League and again did well individually although ending up on the losing side.
  I will try and pick up info on others out on loan and if anyone also gets information please add if you don't mind.

  Faulkner was in the Football League paper Division 2 team of the week, and was given 9 out of 10 in their performance chart.
  He is doing at Harrogate what he has done in loans before, he takes part in a disproportionate number of clean sheets for the teams he plays in, and is not a player any striker would want to mix with and effects games, a proper old fashioned defender and has exceptional pace for a big lad.
  A big challenge next week at Gillingham, which as we all know as Rovers fans is never an easy place to go.

 Faulkner is really doing well at Harrogate having another great game with his central defence partner O'Conner.
 In his last four starts they have won three including this win at the then top of the division Gillingham, and his third clean sheet in four games including the cup game at Mansfield, and v Shrewsbury and Gillingham.
 He makes a difference leading from the front , physical and quick  and players around him have stepped up with the experienced O'Conner alongside him forming a formidable defence down the centre.
  Todays result must be one of the best and surprising in the whole of the EFL today.

  RTR, to be honest it might be a lot easier than a pop concert in Manchester, and that did enough damage who just wanted to go to a good concert.

  Sam Brown came on as a substitute in a poor loss in the FA cup to a team from a lower division 4-1. on Saturday.
  Phil brown their new manager was upset at the end a threatening to change the players  to compete at the level they are at, so things not going well with a young side with loans from mainly academy sides including Grants lad on loan from Barnsley.
 It's no reflection on Sam the National North league is a great learning school for young players, a sink or swim place to be brought up, and Sam is very young for that standard and in 12 months will be a changed player with a lot going for him if he learns the game and can live with the physicality and team mates who depend on the fee they get for playing, and the hard knocks of playing with men  the same for young McCann far better a schooling than u21s.
