Great performance today
« on December 13, 2025, 05:22:37 pm by Butchers Red »
What a great game of football that was, Rovers from 1 to 11  ( Plus the subs) all worked their n*ts off for 97 minutes and put in a magnificent effort against a team full of multi million pound players.

We deserved to win end of.

Late, late goal robbed us of a deserved point at least.

It's disappointing but performances like that show we'll be alright come May - I'm proud of all the lads today

I’d exclude the No. 1 from that

So much better than midweek & the formation seemed to give us more legs in midfield.
Some good individual performances & overall i thought a point would have been deserved.
Soft goals & missed chances cost us in the end.

The TLT beaters are out in force but if Hanlan had put away his one on one, or Clifton hadn’t got over excited we’d have won/drawn it anyway. We win as a team and lose as a team. Gutted but proud of the team. :police:

There will always be chances missed.  The fact we scored three should tell you missed chances wasn't the problem.

I thought there were some good performances but we were awful defensively. Can’t concede 4 and play great surely!

Thought we did some good stuff with the ball. Going more direct and trying to play in behind then worked well. We don’t do that enough.

Well, after a performance like that, anyone who moans is truly not a genuine fan .They played very well, and that was a cruel blow because they deserved a point for sure .

People cannot moan at the performance, what they can moan at is how the keeper in the 98th minute decided instead of holding onto or pushing a routine save around the post, decides to push it into the path of the only opposition player on the pitch that could score.

Awful way to lose

Why can’t we just take a booking in the 98th instead of letting their lad run and shoot.

So frustrating we aren’t learning these things.

Superb performance we should be coming home with a point.

We should not be losing a game away from home against the league leaders where we score 3 good goals. Our defensive performance and continual individual errors are costing us dearly. Gutted today… but this is the harsh reality

Waa a good performance today and a real pain in the ass taht we lost it with virtually the last kick of the game.
My optomlsm is telling me that despite the awful run we've been on we are still not in the relegation spots. The Jan window opens shortly where hopefully we will strengthen and turn spme of these promising performance into wins. I believe we are better than at least 4 other teams in the division & I would take 20th right now!

It was an exciting game because mistakes by both teams were punished,  the big conundrum to me is how does grehan get a game over Sterry?
The goals we gave away when Grehan was just run past like a statue and tried to hang onto their player's shorts was amateurish as was O'Riordon getting the wrong side of an attacker and reacting slowly and showed his lack of pace.
Defensively we were poor at the back and their players fancied running past us all the game.
At the other end we did the same for a top side their defence looked no better than ours and were slow.

I thought Ben Close was tremendous today, so hope some of critics will soon come to realise that he his still a good player at this level.

Whatever it was it didn't work

It did work, it gave us much more in midfield and we controlled large parts of the game.
We created more chances today than probably any game this season against the best side in the division. Put it this way, play like that with this formation and we win the majority of games. Other than Stockport our improvements have been good for the last 6/7 games

Remember Hanlan & Clifton DID score earlier & both played well i’d say.
When Hanlan came off we offered little up front.

I think we’re too critical of TLT, especially that winning goal, it was straight at Bailey who went to kick it and missed, Tim wouldn’t of seen it until the last min, molyneux falling asleep and letting his man run off him is more to blame for me

Sorry, but you can’t concede 4 goals and call it a great performance. Some of the defending was abysmal and if that continues will lead to relegation, no question. A lot of work to be done in January if we are to stay up,

Some aspects were great and get where the OP is coming from BUT it’s feels like a lot of the talk about the performance is a bit patronising. Like when a non league club gives a championship team a scare in the FA Cup.

Strange one on Added time . Neither side were really time wasting imo until added time itself but I suppose Sub after Sub , and Goals must have persuaded the Ref to go high

Can't blame the added time much though because I DID think we could have scored the late winner but unfortunately we didnt have the nous to hang on let alone win

The outfield players were magnificent.

We conceded 4 goals. How could all 10 outfield players possible all have been magnificent? They weren't. Some poor defending let us down. I used to think Mcgrath would kick on to championship level eventually but he's shown so far this season he's league 2. Maybe Olowu made him look better
