Lincoln are a very very well run club, think their ceo used to work for Rovers.
Be nice if he came back to sort us out.

Why? We're pretty well run overall in the last couple of years, that's a ridiculous statement.  On and off the pitch the last two years have been a huge step forward.

We've made a fair choice not to spend huge sums for the very rare occurrence of cold weather. I'm fine with that. We don't have that many games called off at all and when it's this cold I don't enjoy being out in it all that much either.

I popped outside yesterday afternoon and there was ice in the back garden, it seamt quite obvious to me a game today was less than likely.

Far better run than we are, I keep an eye on them because I admire how well they are run, as a club of similar size

They are not a similar size. When their new stadium is complete, you'll see their attendances at least double.

New stadium that isn't happening when they are doing work to sincil bank that even when completed will still be smaller than the keepmoat. Keep up the good work

No great surprise, I always thought it unlikely with the daytime temperatures being so low, rather than cold nights and warmer days. It will be interesting to see how many games go ahead in league 1, as I think there’ll be more off than on today. It’s the persistent cold that does the damage, not allowing the ground to thaw out at any time.

Correct, £2.6 million spent on Sincil bank including new community hub to help Lincoln city work with the wider community in Lincoln. Since we regularly win prizes for community work in Donny, perhaps we could teach them a thing or two.

No plans for a new ground in the foreseeable future, and easy to get tickets if I want to go along with Lincoln supporting mates when rovers aren’t playing, so I guess they don’t usually sell out their current stadium?

Are some of you bloody joking? Lincoln City’s Sincil Bank is a damn craphole open at all side even if you want a pee you have to go out in all weather usually in rain and the stadium haha haha bloody stadium don’t even give a damn about disabled supporters , as we know when either people would be always walking passed in front all match AND no cover when it rained and the toilets where there was no locks on toilet doors includes disabled toilets where it was more like a free for all in dank an god forsaken gloomy sh1thole . The football , hahaha what a friggin joke Donny has been far superior. Some of you lot writing sometimes don’t know that you’ve been born with Championship football for a number of years at this great STADIUM even with the board answering to any answers you wish to ask and with facilities where you are still undercover. Just one yes one season where they are doing better at the moment than our Rovers jeees we all thought we would do better after a great end of last season, and so what ? I back Grant to turn it around on the pitch and if any want to join the supporters board get off your arse and stand for election and put in pertinent questions to HELP and not put obstacles in the friggin way. The weather got to the pitch and worse things can happen to you after all I had to put up with watching the tripe from 1967 to 2011 when again we was let down yet again as my wife and I suffered as disabled supporters with all the obstacles in the way and thank god my Grandma was born in Doncaster so I too could feel I was part of the Doncaster Rovers family. Lincoln City well run ? I have so enjoyed the roller coaster ride since that first match we came to see. Now I know 1 or 2 need to take their chill pill and count their blessing they are  Doncaster until I die supporters.

Play on that pitch today and we will f**k it up for the rest of the season. Any live grass wouldn’t stay live for very long after 20 odd men run around on it for two hours in 0/1/2 degree temperatures.

Also the potential chance of losing players long term due to injury on playing on an unplayable pitch!!

Double? No chance. They are still trying to shift tickets for today’s game.

Most sensible post, and you didn’t even mention any stats!
We have to accept that unfortunately our pitch does seem to struggle at this time of year, and even though it was a joke for the Bolton manager to use the pitch has an excuse, it does seem like the ground staff will have to be working hard again this year.

As I’ve mentioned before I’ve got a really good mate of mine who’s a Lincoln City supporter and he’s to our ground the last few times we have played. One of those times he sat with a family member of mine in the West Stand, he was really impressed by the whole thing , the concourse, the food and drink outlets, the toilets, the disabled viewing areas, the view of the pitch etc  “it’s a better ground than Sincil Bank “

Yep, exactly the same reason my lad is not off out in the garden to kick a ball about after I reseeded a few months maths back

Well we'll have to wait and see on that one but the general point I'm suggesting is the limitations on their ground masks their size and potential. They are another step up from us at least and I think will be pushing 15 to 20k or more when doing well.

I would think that player safety was also a consideration.
Right decision to cancel it today.
No chance of the pitch being safe to play on this afternoon.

Not sure I agree, can't see a club the size of Lincoln exceeding crowds of 15k imo.

We've got 8 fixtures in January - I'm fairly sure McCann won't be shedding any tears that we've reduced that to 7, gives time to give players rest, recover from any injuries and to get some new signings in.

Around the ground is rock solid and not a chance it was going to be playable even with the sun been out it's still only 2 degrees outside and getting colder around 3pm

Just put the QPR v Wednesday game on - yes I’m bored - one whole half of the pitch has frost on it and a six metre strip the full length of one side is white over.

That’s just lack of grass. The pitch looks horrible.

Just some perspective to the "its 2 degrees, they called it off too early" brigade. How often when you defrost something in your fridge does it take 12 - 24 hours depending on the size? and fridges generally are set at 3 degrees.

Just have a look at their website, social media, transfer business, ambition, all superior to Rovers
