No Salech or Kellyman for Cardiff.

I don’t think they have a centre forward looking at their line up. This is good.

Team tha kicked off the 2nd half against Rotherham starts. Adelakun doesn’t make the squad, no room for Okoronkwo as yet. TLT keeps his place despite Clark being fit again.

Cardiff havnt named a keeper on the bench.
What would happen if he gets a knock during the 1st corner

Both of our next 2 opponents have taken a beating in the last few day's , are we going to take advantage of this , or are we going to do our usual Charity act of getting teams back on track . Ever the pessimist I'll go for the latter , but hope for the former.

Cardiff are top of the table and have lost 1 game in 13,
Stockport are 5th and have lost 2 in the last 11 games.

Not really charity if we lose to them.
You make it sound like we are playing 2 piss poor teams on a dreadful run.
They don't come more Charitable than their 2nd & 4th goals

The defending for the second was an abomination. Why do we concede so often soon after half time?

You can pick apart specific moments, but there was a general gulf in quality today. They were just better than us. Our passes were going here, there and everywhere but their attacks had pinpoint precision.

We move on.

Their wage bill was 39 million last season.

Won't be that this season, but we can't compete with anywhere near that.

Hoped for a draw today, but the gulf in quality was there for all to see.

I still reckon we will stay up.

It was like playing a Championship team in the cup. You think you are near them and they wriggle away.

:cool:I agree with you Copps but second and fourth goal was poor tackling. The rest of the game was a vast gulf in quality.
Our best player in Molyneux was not allowed to get in this game. Just shows a good League two side and a poor Championship side but still a gulf with pace power and technical ability

Its frustrating because despite the gulf in quality which was obvious, we were extremely unlucky to not be ahead, never mind level at half time. To then give that goal away right after half time just killed it. As someone says above, how often have we conceded right after half time? Why doesn't someone just stop him, just take a yellow if it needs it.

There's obviously a gap in ability, the table doesn't lie. We're not going to help ourselves though by donating goals like a Blue Peter bring and buy sale.

I don’t think they have a centre forward looking at their line up. This is good.

Their striker was the best player on the pitch by a country mile

I thought hanlan was the best player for us, by a considerable margin. I can’t muster anything decent to say about any other player.
The midfield was so so poor, I think it was due to a tactic we were playing, but it wasn’t working, we allowed there Better players so much time and space.
I never mind losing to better teams, and they were undoubtedly better, but that lack of midfield has killed us.
Let’s hope we pick ourselves up and get past this quickly.

We just didn’t turn up today, worst game I’ve seen some our players have Sterry had a mare sorry the whole back four had mares, Bailey and Gotts never got into the game. Honestly don’t think Cardiff broke sweat today. Don’t think anyone expected anything out of today so only real damage done is to the floating fans (goal difference is already done)

Put it this way if Cardiff could pick any of our players to play in their team they'd pick nobody.

It’s games like today that show exactly why nobody will ever offer us 7 figures for Molyneux. Great for us as we get to keep him but yeah he isn’t a championship footballer.

Perhaps in hindsight we should have packed our midfield to at least make it difficult for them. We looked totally outnumbered there today. I thought TLT was good today, Byrne, Hanlan  & Senior were ok. Whats happened to Robinson?

I was disappointed with the team selection.  I mentioned yesterday on another thread that I thought Cardiff represented a totally different challenge and that our team should reflect this.

Specifically I think we needed more creative ball players on the field - eg Close, Broadbent, Lee.  I think we looked better when these three came on but the game was gone by then anyway.

I was surprised Lee didnt start.

I love Molly, his attitude and work rate are spot on, as with Bailey, but Molly looks to be struggling for confidence and form going forward.
His shooting when coming inside which was a major strength, has all but gone, hes just not catching the ball right, or he is holding back on it.

I hope he learns from this year and we see the real Molly.

We were never going to beat them on ability and they were always going to outplay us so I don’t understand why we weren’t snapping at their heels trying to force them into errors we can pounce on. We did for maybe 5 minutes but apart from that they had tons of space, especially in the middle.

Bailey and Moly 2 players we have (and needed to today) relied on were miles off it and that set the tone really. That and we gave them far too much respect. I wouldn’t be surprised to hear we’ve sent them all home with goodie bags.

Oh and Rubin Colwill… Just a joke that he’s at this level isn’t it? He would’ve probably still found a way to bully us but our game plan for him was either non-existent or it failed big time.

They had a few like Alex Robertson who pulled us around wherever he wanted us but Colwill stood out like a sore thumb. Laughable he was sharing a pitch in a league game with some of our players.

Everyone is criticising the team for the defending, which I agree was pathetic.
However we did start the game well and were dealing with what is a very good team.
During this time we had two fantastic chances, Hanlan and Clifton and both should have scored, get these and we’re 2-0 up, so different game!
We cannot keep not putting chances like that into the back of the net.

I would have given TLT man of the match today.

It was business as usual for us , not taking our chances and giving away winners with another performance from too many that was just L2 level . Another clear out required if we want to compete even at this level..
