Buying a ticket at the KMS
« on April 06, 2010, 05:52:53 pm by Wellred »
Being a season ticket holder I have never had to buy a ticket (other than cup games) at the ticket office.
One thing puzzles me and maybe its a stupid question but I am sure someone will put me right.
How does anyone buy a ticket if their name is not on the database?

Their name gets put on the database...

If you think of how many high profile games we have had since we moved to the Keepmoat, I imagine we must have at least 30k names on there. Its only for high profile games where there is a large risk of tickets being sold to away fans that they even start to think about restricting it to people who are already on there.

If you are a season ticket holder then your name will be on the database - unless of course you gave a false name and address when you took the ticket out and are now desperately looking for something to prove you are a 12 yo female?

Everyone who has bought a ticket since the KMS was opened is on that database.  I'll wager that 99 percent of fans have seen a game at the KMS.  If you haven't then they add your name on the first time you buy as has been said.  Works out much better now it's a bit more organised and stricter.

Thing is, I witnessed someone trying to buy a Barnsley ticket and because they weren't on the database, they wouldn't sell them one.
Someone posted on here also about someone trying to get one for the Newcastle game and was also refused.

If this is the case, how are new fans not on the database meant to buy?

A lad I go with has been going years and isn't on the database because someone else buys his ticket for him. They only ask for the details of the person buying the ticket so on that basis a few might not be on the database.

But for the big games (Wembley and Cardiff) everyone who bought a ticket had to fill in a form so their details will be on the database and I imagine that makes up a very large proportion of the database.

If your friend has been going for years and isn't on the database it is his own fault if it ended up making him miss out on tickets.

But its not Rovers fans we are looking to attract though is it Rigo.
Surely we are trying to tempt the people who want to know what all the talk of us being such a good footballing side is all about.
Surely if we want to bring potential new rovers fans to watch us we should be making it as easy as possible to buy a ticket not putting obstacles in the way.
We want them to come, they are not doing us a favour by coming.

Problem here is that it appears that the club are damned if they do and damned if they don't. If they don't have a database and just sell anyone tickets, you get people moaning when they fall into the 'wrong' hands. If they do have a database and then have to 'close' it down for certain matches where the home ends could become infiltrated, then people moan that new fans cannot get tickets.

The common theme seems to be fans moaning.... sound familiar Frost?

So what your saying Rigo, that there is no room for future genuine Rovers fans? If DRFC employ this tactic how is my son ever going to get his name onto the database?

I reckon there's more to this than meets the eye.

My theory is that Frosty been rebuffed in an attempt to seduce one of the ticket office staff and is still smarting from the humiliation.

Quote
Frost (flirting): \"Nice day today, chucky.\"

Ticket angel (bored): \"err...yes. It is. Can I help you?\"

Frost (puffing out his Frosty chest): \"err...Yes. I'd like a Barnsley ticket hotlips.\"

Ticket angel (looking at her nails): \"Are you on the database?\"

Frost (in a James Bond stylee): \"Yes. My name is Frost. Mr Frost.\"

Ticket angel (patronisingly): \"Haha. What's your phone number?\"

Frost (panicking): \"eeeerrrr...., uummm, why do you fancy a drink sometime?\"

Ticket angel (looks Frost up and down with a look of distain): \"errrr. No. I need it to check your details.\"

Frost (humiliated): \"Oh, haha. Just joking.\"

Frost collects ticket and marches home to engage in a prolonged and bitter campaign of revenge via an internet forum.

The facts speak for themselves, no matter how much you want to mock. I really hope one of you lot have problems with the ticket office one day, and when you decide to tell anyone about it, see what the response is.

I'm not on the database, when I was back in uk for Spurs and wembley matches someone got tickets for me.
When I worked in the uk I could never buy a season ticket as I was always working away from home and didnt know when I was back,I know a lot of rovers fans who work away from home.

I wonder if oslorover is on the database?

Why question if you are a true rovers fan if you are not on the database?

\"Why question if you are a true rovers fan if you are not on the database\" - because if you are not on the database - computer says No. (Apologies to Little Britain!)

People are speaking like the Database is a closed shop, it isn't, in most circumstances it is continually expanded.

What I don't understand and this what prompted me to ask the question is this.
Your wife went down for two tickets to the Newcastle game and got her name put on the database so she could buy 2 tickets and yet we hear of people who have tried to buy tickets but can't because they are not on the database.
I know it seems a bit chicken and egg so why refuse some people to buy a ticket and yet allow others to put their names on this golden database and then buy a ticket?
Confusing or what??

I stopped buying my season ticket due to only using it for a few games a season (  I live  abroad). I want five tickets for a family reunion at the Scunthorpe match .. So I hope not to be rejected when I go to Keepmoat a day beore the game.  Does being a member of Vikings qualify me for an entry on this exclusine database I wonder?

Solution.....

If you are not on the database either prove that you reside at a Doncaster address and they will add you without any problems. If you don't reside at a Doncaster address then sort it out when we are not playing a team that are challenging for promotion that week and have sold their ticket allocation as lots of their fans are trying to buy tickets in our end. It's really a  no brainer as you have had months to register, so end of discussion.

Most of our exiles know people in the town who can get them tickets anyway and the regular posters  would only have to ask on here and i am sure aomeone would sort a ticket for them. Also it is a big misshap on their parts if i am being honest for not registering earlier, afterall the season is months old and exiles could register over the phone anyway before the season starts \"just incase\" as it's better to be safe then sorry.

Personally i have never had any problems whatsoever with the ticket office and have found the girls will always do their best to sort anything out for you ticket wise.

If you bought a ST while we have been at the KMS then you will be on the database. Also i would try and get tickets earlier then the day before over the phone explaining your situation and tell them you can produce your VSC card and i can't see it being a problem.

A lot of people have NEVER had a problem at the Ticket Office - myself included.

Yet you seem to have a problem each and every time?? Hmmmmm!

It isn't just me, check through the threads. I saw someone refused Barnsley tickets as they werent on the database, and a poster on here was refused Newcastle tickets for the same reason.

With MrFrost it`s usually \"someone he knows\" that have the problems

I reckon all associates of MrFrost are automatically banned from the ticket buying process

If you can be arsed to check through posts Rigo, you'll see another poster had the same problems a few weeks ago. But you only read what you want to read, and rather than recognise that we have problems, its easier to jump on the bandwagon and try and mock someone who see's genuine shortcomings and failings behind the scene's.

Grow up sunshine.

Well 2 out of 10,000 isn't bad going really is it.  I've not once had a problem buying tickets or know anyone that has.  Doesn't mean it doesn't happen, but it does show that it can't be a major problem.
