Should fit in at The Rams then.

In all ways.

Actually, Greeny went for more than that.  Cant blame him, and if these rumours are true, cant blame Gaz either.

JR said after Greeny went that we wouldnt lose our best players for nothing again - hopefully that is still the case.

If Gareth has gone to Derby and I hope not, this shows yet again we cannot compete with wages in this league. Our best players will go and Sean will have to start again finding players that are at a reduced cost. If Gareth has gone then how can we afford wages for the likes of Shackell and Sharp. Long summer waiting to pick up the scraps at the end of July maybe.

We've actually got two threads on the forum at the moment simulateously saying Roberts is extending his contract at Doncaster (this thread here) and this one saying he is off to Derby?

Incredible.  :silly:

The difference being this thread has no source apart from hearsay to back it up

I think that Filo should be renamed Thomas.  I appreciate there is a lot of crap posted on this forum with no substance.  I think you will find this not to be the case with the OP who maybe would like to protect the source of this info.

As an aside, those who were at Swansea may have picked up on a hint at the final whistle when the players came over to the away supporters.  Ben Smith threw his gloves into the crowd, shortly followed by Roberts and JOC throwing their shirts.  Mcdaid then handed his shirt to a female supporter before waving to the fans. I said to the guys with me that this may be an indication of the players who have just palyed their last games for the club.

If OP is correct then I shall eat humble pie, but at the moment it`s an unsubstantiated rumour, nothing else.

Now I'm confused. Hasn't JOC got another year left on his contract?

The throwing away of shirts is not realy proof as we wont be playing in them again anyway with the new sponsor next season.

The throwing of shirts into the crowd is quite normal.  Some like to keep their shirts, others don't mind.  This is a rumour at the moment, we have no evidence to say it's true.

Do you really expect us to compete with wages with the likes of Derby. Realistically there average attendence is what? 28k? Thats 3x ours. Course we cant compete with that, we know that. If rovers really wanted to keep certain players, they should have done more previously instead of waiting and leaving the opportunity for players/agents to make money. Simple. Lets just wait and see whats happening and for confirmation. As always, this shows what a hell of job SOD and ROK are doing, by completing in this division, and also Holloway at Blackpool.

I can't believe this!! Gaz was one of our most consistent players last year, why oh why have we not had him on a longer term contract before now?? If we lose another class player for free then it again shows the narrow mindedness of our management team! The threads on the Derby forum that I have read look pretty convincing to me! If we don't start to get some of our out of contract players on a new contract soon we might as well forget it next year because we won't have a team!!

My thoughts are with the people who sponsored those players and had the shirts taken back off them at the Sponsors Event last week, so that the players could wear them fo the final game.  Now, some other monkey has their shirt! ;-)

Since our own clubs official site has stated today that Gareth has been offered a new deal, and does not mention at all anything to do with Derby County, I'll take this with a minute pinch of salt right now. I can't see it.

If it is true, then good luck to Gaz. We can easily sign a new left back or two, he has had a brillianr season but is definitely replaceable.

EDIT: Old Popsider, you're paranoid mate. 'OP' is short for 'Original Poster', as in the guy who posted this thread. :P

Derby fan on another forum:

Done deal my friend unless he gets a better off by Monday.

Not looking promising. Lessons clearly weren't learnt by the Green fiasco

I have asked said poster on that other forum (assuming it's the same one as it's letter-for-letter the same post) how he is so sure, so we'll find out in due course.

I've seen plenty of similar posts from people concerning Stock, Woods etc. in the past and those times it did not come to fruition.

Don't you just love how people assume other clubs' fans know more than ours about what's going on.

I might pose as a Derby fan on another forum and post about how it's all b*llocks, would that chear people up?

Sorry for the moan, I hate this rumour stuff, all of a sudden we have thousands of in the know people.  Just wait and see, if Roberts was so key and it could have been done and he was going to stay SOD would have signed him up months ago.

OK. Hackles going down a bit now, but to save confusion perhaps 'orpo'/'orp' would be a bit better?

\"A lad on the Derby forums called 'dcfc_kev' when he talks about a rumour then you know it's true. He said that the Derby contract is the best one on offer to him and if he doesn't receive a better offer he'll sign on Monday. \"

That was the response. We'll soon see then if this 'dcfc_kev' guy really is accurate 100% of the time.

You can imagine that if true, SOD is surely trying his damnedest to keep Robbo at the club.

I always thought that a contract couldn't be signed until June and that even talks at this stage would be classed as tapping up as most contracts don't end until the end of June.  Be interesting to know whether that's the case with Roberts.

A player coming to the end of his contract is free to talk to whoever he likes up to 6 months before his contract expires

Oh right, I thought for domestic transfers it was different?

The young lady who got McDaid's shirt lives near to him and had previously asked him for his shirt (no sniggers at the back) and said he had to return his red shirt for the sponsor.

JR said Greeny was getting £8k at Derby

I've got a feeling you are right. I thought it was 6 months for international transfers and 6 weeks for domestic.
