have you ever experienced any Paranormal activity?
« on July 19, 2010, 12:03:52 pm by jucyberry »
I can remember many years ago when I was about eight or so, it was a wednesday evening, around midwinter time  my dad coming in it must have been around the 7.30 mark because we were watching Star trek ( I'm very anal, most of my young memories are based around what was on the tv at the time..lol)

Anyway, he had been talking to one of the neighbours, when they saw a massively bright light hover over the field across the road from us, he said it was bright enough that you would have been able to find a sixpence in the field, it hovered over them for what seemed like a few minuets then shot off out over the Wash. U.F.O or some kind of flight training, we were even then surrounded by usaf and raf bases.......

My nan always said that when as a small child she was set to work in the workhouse sitting with the dying, she would know when their time of passing was near as she would see a black crow outside the window. she firmly believed in all things unworldly, tarrot cards, palmistry ect...

We have several 'haunted' spots in the village, my brother has seen a Roman centurian on the outskirts of the village, and my ex husband swears he saw the headless woman who is supposed to haunt the field where our middle school was built.

So, how about you? Have you or yours had any experience of the paranormal? what are your thoughts on the subject? is it something that can always be dismissed with rational scientific thought, or are there more things in heaven and earth than we might care to think of?

I've witnessed a bright light from above on several occasions around Bentley. The South Yorks police helicopter uses that particular flight path regularly.

I had a really strange dream, when I woke up the sheets were covered in ectoplasm.

Is that a paranormal activity?

No, because 'the paranormal' is bullshit.

And I include belief in God in the definition of paranormal, too.

The ancients believed that the sun was a fiery chariot driven across the sky by a God. That's how THEY explained the unexplained.

Just because you cannot explain something, it does not automatically become inexplicable.

We, as a society, as a species, are wonderfully adept at finding things out, and thereby pushing back the boundaries of ignorance and stupidity. THAT's how you go about explaining the unexplained. By getting more intelligent.

As Isaac Newton said, when asked how he came up with such breathtaking answers to such apparently impossible problems, \"I do it by pondering upon the problems for a great deal of time.\"

If only we all took a leaf out of his book.

Yep...and waking both my kids up each and every time they fly over (usually about 6 or 8 passed with a bloody search light and low, and late - for maximum noise and disruption effect).

How long would I have to ponder the mechanics of time travel before I come up with a solution?

I don't. I put it down as a gap in my knowledge. I just don't make up a bullshit explanation for it.

Jucy. Given that you live a long way from civillization, mebbe the centurion just hadn't got the message that the Romans have left yet. Like them Japanese soldiers holed up on desert islands into the 1970s.

Ah well, NOW you need to read \"The Pleasure of Finding Things Out\" by Richard Feynmann, in which he explains that the thing that separates great thinkers from ordinary ones is having a knack for guessing which problems will prove soluble within the current state of human knowledge. Can't help you there chuckie egg...

And the award for Post of the Week...

Me, I reckon Matty Caldwell had figured out time travel or teleporting or summat like that. Every time somebody passed a ball down the left wing to the perfect spot for a winger to be, he was never there.

An expert on \"Paranormal Phenomena\" held a seminar in a small village in rural Wales. After giving his talk, he decided to ask his audience about their experiences.

First of all he asked, \"Everyone who has ever seen a ghost, please stand up.\" Well, nearly the entire audience stood up.

Then asked, \"Everyone who has ever had a close encounter with a ghost, please remain standing.\" About 2 dozen people were still standing.

He then asked how many people had been in the same room as a ghost and 6 people stood up.

Finally he asked, \"Anyone who has ever had SEX with a ghost, please remain standing.\" Everyone sat down except an old farmer.

The expert asked the old farmer to come up to the stage which he did. \"Now,\" he said \"this is a real first for me. Would you like to tell me when you experienced sex with a ghost. The farmer went red faced and exclaimed- \"Oh, I'm very sorry. I'm rather hard of hearing and when you said GHOST I thought you said GOAT!\"

Is a closed mind one that cannot see, or can that mind not see because it is  closed?......a paradox wouldnt you say?

I personally think just because we cannot see something, it doesn't mean it doesn't exsist...

there are so many theories as to the nature of the paranormal, some believe a haunting in an imprint of a memory that attatches itself to the place it happened. People have heard  war cries on ancient battle fields, is this a wisp of a memory, or mass hysteria by those who want to see....

The feeling of having been in a place you have never visited before, how many have experienced that?

Sometimes as a species we forget that hidden sense, evolution has told us to  trust in the scientific answer, but there is so much more to us as an entity than just the rationale we can explain away in formulae.

I once witnessed a flying saucer hurtling towards me from the air. It came that close that I began to turn and run. Next thing I knew a cup bounced off the back of my head......

Our lass tends to go off like that about every four weeks.

That's not belief in the paranormal, that's existentialism.

People have an endless capacity to believe in things they want to believe in because they like the idea, no matter how bizarre it may seem. Conspiracies are very popular, men not landing on the moon, grassy knolls and all that stuff. Ghosts, big foot, Loch Ness Monsters, space aliens and religious belief seem to be similar phenomena to me.

People are also pretty good at denying things they don't like the idea of too. I'm constantly surprised at how many in the fishing industry refuse, point blank to believe the evidence that fish stocks worldwide are collapsing despite the clear mounting evidence. I hardly dare mention the global, socialist conspiracy of climate change...

Anyway to answer the question. I've never seen anything that could be described as paranormal. I don't think I ever saw Neil Campbell score even.

I have spent most of my life experiencing things I cannot explain. I have at times forseen events that would happen to me and they have come true on many occasions. Never saw the rise of the Rovers though

One of the strangest events was whilst I was sleeping at my then girlfriends in Liverpool. In those days we were obliged to sleep in seperate rooms in respect of her parents. I awoke in the middle of the night after a nightmare and decided to get up and go downstairs. As I attempted to get out of bed I fell to the floor with an almighty thud, it was like my legs wouldn't work. I crawled over to the door and as I went to open it I awoke back in the bed. Phew! I must have been dreaming. I then decided to get up and go downstairs, yep you guessed it! THUD! Crawled over to the door, went to open it and awoke back in the bed. 3 times this happened to me and on the third attempt finally managed to open the door and walk downstairs. But the downstairs was at home in Donny and my brother was sat at the kitchen table. I explained to him that I was in Liverpool and not really in Donny. We both agreed that we were in the same dream and we would call each other the next day to confirm that we were both experiencing the same dream.

Sure enough the next morning the phone went and it was our kid.................................to be continued B)

Or, he had his drink spiked by his brother, who then told him in his delerious state that he was in Liverpool at his birds house, when actually his bird was in Donny and his brother shagged her whilst he was unconcious and he was just enjoying a post shag fag in the kitchen

I've had two ghostly experiences in the last six weeks, both at work. The first happened when I was on nights, we'd got our work done early so I went for a kip in one of our portacabins. I made sure that i put a small metal bar between the door handle and the wall so if anyone tried to get in, they wouldn't be able to open it from the outside. I slept solid until my alarm went off, when I got up and went to the door, the metal bar wasn't in place but on top of the coat peg rack. There was only me inside that thing and no one could have got inside other than the door that I had locked.

Then last week  I saw through a window in a door a black hooded figure walk past, only thing is, it went past to my right and all that is there is a solid wall.

Strange how these have happened when there is hardly anyone on the depot.

The wife and me were in bed one night when the burglar alarm went off. We went downstairs and discovered that the alarm keypad was hanging off the wall. Strangely all the house was still locked and there had been no entry.
To this day it is still a puzzle as to what happened.
