Cracking!

Fantastic to see that ex Rover's players can still have moments in 'the sun', long after they've done their bit & more for us.

Enjoy Dave!!

Dave was always a talented footballing centre back he got the nickname of \"The Kaiser\" by us because we felt he used to think he was as good as Franz Beckenbauer when he had the ball at his feet, with one too many drag backs on occasions but another Belle Vue legend no doubt

He was a f**kin liability, he was not a legend, why did he get the nickname \"Dangerous Dave\"?. I hated it when I heard his name called out on the tannoy.

Funny. Opinions. I know, and accept that Dave dropped a right old clanger from time to time, but I always just loved watching him. That aura of composure and calm (even when it was all going pete tong) and that arrogance just captivated me. I'd have him back now just for the fun of it. (And yes. I know we'd about double our goals against column....)

Cheers

There was always a mistake in him, but watching him play you couldn't help but think he was far too good for the Conference. There were many times I wondered how on earth he'd ended up dropping down to that level, but then he'd lose his concentration and the question would be answered.

You mean this one?

And the celebration weren't bad either. Not that I remember at the time - I was near-vomitting from relieved tension* up at the back of the stand.

EDIT: * And I DON'T mean \"relieved tension\" in a Nudga-stylee.

What a day, what a header!

I liked Dave but had a bit of a habit of kicking the ball out trying to pull off a long pass. Frustrating as hell sometimes. Played his part for us though, no doubt.

He looked like a proper defender and that was a big plus at the time. Gave me kittens every time he went near the ball, but then didn't everybody back then?

Recent heros. Barnes, Whitman, Green,Morley, Tierney.

Without them, where would we be ?

(That day, is still more important to me than the Millenium and Wembley)

Plus, where did Dagenham & Redbridge come from, where did they go and, who do they play on the opening day this season ?

Funny old game !

Still sends a shiver down my spine !

One player that set the blueprint and defines the way we play now. Jamie Patterson !

Take the piss at every opportunity !!

I'd have taken Dangerous Dave over Nick Fenton every time (even after that horror show at Hudderfield).

Just goes to show the standard of competition in the Europa League particularly in the early rounds. It would be quite interesting to see how far we would go if given the opportunity to play in it. Theres obviously the chance that you can get bad draw in an early round against Anderlecht or the like, but i think we would go a few rounds at least. Some of these sides playing in the qualifiers would struggle to stay up in the conference!

Captain Chaos (Fenton) was awful for us most of the time. His high point was an outstanding game in the Carling Cup, I can't remember whether it was the Villa or Arsenal one, in which he played at full back with a broken leg!

Ah Morley. My favourite trick of his was when he'd follow a centre forward dropping deep into midfield with his arm pointing behind him trying to get Marps to cover him but also alerting an attacking midfielder as to which gap to run into.

\"That's the space I've just created for you. THERE!\"

Great goal at Stoke, and a great penalty at Chester too. Plus I'm sure he gave some verbals to the next Chester penalty taker as they passed on his walk back to the centre circle.

Dagenham & Redbridge came about as a result of several mergers over the years. The last merge was 1992 when Redbridge Forest & Dagenham got together to become Dagenham & Redbridge. They took the Isthmian league championship in 2000 & finally got to the FL in 2006. 2002 they wanted to replace Boston, that was when Boston were involved in the illegal payments scandal.

Daggers' first game this new season is away v Wendies.

Christ knows how Daggers will cope with some of the larger away followings to their ground. It hasn't been expanded or much improved since DRFC went there last apart from a few new seats.

I think they will be straight back down at the end of next season.

Personally, I expect them to hold their own.  Maybe flirt with the relegation end of the table all season, but be good enough to stay up.  They play football the proper way.
