If you haven't seen our news recently, we have managed to surpass our initial target of £500 in our 'Flag Fund'. As such we are looking to invite fans to submit designs that they want to see created using the money raised.

In a couple of weeks we'll look to run a poll and let fans decide which flag(s) they want to see decorating our stadium next season.

Below are a couple of designs just to kick things off:

You can find out more info on our website: http://blackbank.co.uk/flag-designs/

Welcome to the Black Bank

Yes! Love the Copps one, he needs a flag for sure

Regarding the Copps one, is he leaving us?

Quite a lot of people have mentioned keeping the usual badge for various reasons. The logo being adopted here adapts that badge to be something a little more edgy. It helps create an identity within the support, not apart from it. That kind of thing appeals to many and I think is spot on the right approach.

Variety is good. Uniformity is bland and boring, and that's part of the problem with the Keepmoat in general.

Uniformity creates strength.

To date I haven't voiced an opinion on the flag design etc as my season ticket us not in the South Stand. But FWIW I really don't like anything that suggests something violent, sinister or dark.  The current suggestion hits every one of those to me.

Is it more of a bloke thing? I just look at it and it makes me think anyone or any group parading it are after some trouble. Might not be the intent but I am sure some others would think the same and, as someone else said, there will be some teams who visit the KM who you just would not want to get that impression.

Or me :) Twas the sign at the entrance of the nazi death camps, and I'm assuming was mentioned alluding to similar ways in which rulers control people - eg the idea of uniformity being strength being one of them. Good for cement, not good for "life".

It's a f**kin flag with a Vikings skeleton head not three K's and a white hooded figure for a logo for f**ks sake.

didn't the rovers sometime ago shun the idea of a Viking mascot, saying it gave the wrong impression, hence Donny dog was born

You can still be imposing without resorting to skulls. Something like some of these might be better alternatives:

No, Donny Dog preceded that idea. I believe the idea was shelved mainly because whilst Donny Dog can be played by different people without anyone knowing, the same wasn't true of the Viking idea.

I have no problem with the logo or the flag, jeez some will be suggesting a Danish lass with a pinny on next. Our supporters are becoming more PC by the day :(

Am I allowed to say that  ?  :chair:

For what it's worth my advice would be to have flags and banners that the rest of the fans in the ground can relate to. The old Viva Rovers one at Belle Vue was great, so was the big shirt.

Anything that just refers to Black Bank will just have people scratching their heads wondering what it's on about. "What the ell's this Black Bank Albert? Is it like the North Bank at Highbury then? Is the South Stand being renamed?". "No, it's just named after the famous drainage ditch underneath the Lakeside car park to instil fear into our opponents".

The club might not be involved in the designs Rob but I doubt they would allow the display of a flag or banner that was deemed to be 'offensive'. I would say that the designers of this black bank hells angels chapter flag are taking the view that no-one taking children to the match is going to object to it.

I can't believe what I'm reading. If by some absolute miracle someone is offened by an inoffensive flag there are plenty of other areas of the ground they can sit away from the Black Bank.

I'm sure that's not the intention,  Wilts.

It's about creating some colour and atmosphere, not scaring kids or facing offensive banners, more about supporting our players and making our match days more enjoyable. The guys from North Stand Loyal at Huddersfield have been helping get this off the ground. Have a look at their site.
