Well done Filo.

I'm currently on the 16:8 fasting plan. I've lost a stone and down to 14st 4lb.

Ive totally cut out white and brown bread, only have pitta bread as there's only 3 natural ingredients in them.

I've cut a few other bits and pieces out but I've now found that if I eat rice, pasta or potatoes it bloats me up and ruins me for hours.

Eliminate any bread of any type, poison. Eliminate pasta too and any wheat based products, turns into sugar and then fat.
Keto/ carnivore is the only option for humans. That food is what we evolved to eat, meat.

Nonsense.
What was the driver of human evolution then? Certainly wasn't wheat. Go and have a look in a heavily wooded area in winter and try to find things to eat, you'll  starve, as did early humans unless they could kill animals.

I'm certainly not saying don't eat meat. When it comes to decreasing your body fat percentage, chicken breast is a cheat code.

My point is that you absolutely can enjoy bread and pasta and still lose fat.

I couldn't,  the weight came off me once I cut it out.

Whatever works for you is great. I could go without bread relatively easily (which is good as it is calorie dense), however I eat pasta several evenings a week.

Ultimately, the success of any diet will come down to being in a calorie deficit meaning anything can be consumed in moderation.

Sounds logical but that's why diets don't work for an enormous amount of people,  attempting to count calories doesn't get over the temptation and psychological aspects of certain foods, you're experiencing it without knowing with your inability to stop eating pasta, you're hooked.
It's the way wheat has been modified that makes it so different now from it's early form, very much like the fruit available in supermarkets,  fruit  has been modified to contain maximum amount of sugar and sugar creates insulin intolerance (diabetes).
Eliminate all wheat products and eat meat, eggs too are fantastic, if you're overweight you'll lose it so long as you cut out other carbohydrate/sugar products too.
Few years ago I got terrible stomach cramps after eating bread, took ages to realise the cause of the pain, completely gone for 2+ years now since I've not touched the stuff, added bonus I've gone down a size in waist,  without trying.

Link contains lots of reading. Unable to break from wheat based products? You're a junkie!

The below in quotes is taken from the link. But simply put your brain gets withdrawal symptoms associated with opiods. So you're compelled to eat what  causes the problems.

"Gluten can be degraded into several morphine-like substances, named gluten exorphins. These compounds have proven opioid effects and could mask the deleterious effects of gluten protein on gastrointestinal
lining and function. Here we describe a putative mechanism, explaining how gluten could “mask” its own toxicity".

Incidentally you'll get virtually zero good diet advice from a GP, they're there to dispense medication and understand almost nothing about diet. Next time you're in a supermarket look at the amount of space given to wheat based products. Addicted without knowing and people give children cereal willingly.
