Never went in the little plough in my Youth, but Its allways my first port Of call whenever i land back in pubcaster.

It will be a cold day in hell if that pub should ever have to shut up shop.

When rod had the place it was best pint in town, hope the new landlord has same standards

Oslo - you probably know the landlord of the Plough - Nick Griffin (not that one!) used to work at the Nelson and is a pal of Haigy from Edlo

Well it will still be a good pint if NG is running the ship.

It really is a top pint in there

Not necessarily a pub per say, and dunno if it's been mentioned on here yet, but the drinking hole that I really do miss and will miss again at 1:30pm today is The Toad opposite the Keepmoat.

Too true Too true

Anyone got any more thoughts on The Bridge Hotel or the nearby Green Dragon Hotel. What about The Greyhound and Crown & Anchor in Friendly Street/Higher Fishergate area. Im far too young to remember these but find this thread very interesting.

I can remember going into the White bear back in the 70's and there were two old broilers giving all and sundry blow jobs! Needless to say Sproty didn't indulge!

I recall in the late 1980s When whoever was running the cleveland arms put a stripper show on for all the ddr and donnywhites.

The pub was shut to general on This sunday and you had to knock on back door,if they knew Your face you was in.it Also cost 5pounds which got you a free sunday finner thrown in.

I got in some 30 mins after the show started and walked into front bar to see a ddr mate laid on the Floor in his birthday suit with a brass with whip in hand
Cracking the whip against his Meat and two veg.

A certian donnywhite was walking round the pool table
Without out a stitch on and a lobb on waiting his turn with the stripper.

Must have Been 40 pluss lads in there.

Then the stripper passed round a pint pot and once it was full Of money she would fcuk whoever.

At This point in time the sunday dinners were Been served.my mistake was Been one Of the last to start to eat Their roast,as This point in time the pint pot had Been full Of money and ----- ------was riding the Arsè off the stripper.

Lado had finished with the viniger stroke and When he pulled his condom off his snot went flying all over the pool table.i could not eat me roast not after seeing that.

Now the donnywhite who had not had a stitch Of clothes on all day had the stripper bent over the pool table and was Sawing her in half.

The owner then announced that two more brasses who had just finished a show in Rotherham were on Their way to cleveland arms.

I Siad  Ffs who the fcuk is going to shag a couple Of
Slappers who have Been Throu half a pub full Of Rotherham gobshites, and Thats not to mention that they will be seeping porridge.

Christ as soon as the two girls walked in two pint pots were full Of money.

You could not Get a pint in the front bar for all the mayhem,so i nip round to the back bar and Stood in what i thought was the que to Get served at the bar.

It turned out to be a que to have a round with one Of the ladys in the ladys bogs Funny enough.

After about 3hours Of all This, you could hear a knock on the back door.

Tap tap tap,i went to answer it and it was the parents
Of two brothers that were in the pub as mum and dad had dropped by to pick them to take them to Their nan nans for sunday dinner

You could not make it up

Oslo classic
Remember encountering a similar scenario in the Taddy at Armthorpe, we'd hired a stripper for a lads stag do - turns out she was up for extras too - quite surreal watching on

Talking of flattened listed buildings, anyone remember the old council offices on Princegate (originally the old Infirmary before the DRI was built)?  The front facade of the building was listed and was supposed to be retained, but I believe no one told the demolitions company tasked with taking the rest of the building down.  Where it once stood is now that huge DWP/DSS place.

Yes that building was ugly and totally inconspicuous so much so that Even I the mighty Sproty, self styled champion and expert of old Doncaster never bothered to research it's history.

Of course not Sproty. (cough, cough)

Funniest story I can recount re strippers happened in the Foresters at Adwick le street. I was in there minding every body else's business, when in walks a stripper gram with a big burly Minder, anyway there was the Adwick rugby lads in supping after a match and she singled out one of them and went through her routine rubbing herself against him etc. anyway a hand appeared from the crowd and grabbed her bum next thing the minder jumped in and started getting heavy, unfortunately all he got was a good hiding and sent scudding out into the street on his arse .wherupon the rugby lads surrounded the stripper and all you could hear was her squealing from the middle of the crowd and her naughty underwear came flying over Sprotys way. After about ten minutes she escaped and went running into the street in her Birthday suit.
Of course I remained totally aloof of this drunken debauchery.

I used to work in the Blue Bell on Baxtergate in my youth. Fine pub sadly gone in the 80's. think it lasted a couple more years as a poncy bar called The Garden Bar but in its heyday I loved The Blue Bell.

It was called Roscoe's in between Blue Bell and The garden.  :)

10 Main Street was on the edge of Auckley, now houses.

What is happening with the Paddock in Cantley. It closed for a short time but has re-opened but still very few go in. The Beaches Brook has just had new signs and paint job.
