And Jimmy O’Connor still has it.

Stocky was the star of the show - still majestic.

Greeny covered every blade of grass and put in way more effort for Rovers than he did Leeds. Great afternoon of entertainment.

spoke to Jimmy afterwards, he said he loved it and still got butterflys before a game playing in front of a crowd...

Anyone else find it slightly surreal that there are teenagers are too young to remember Stocky and Co in their prime?

So ..the opening post  is JR ..but he has not been to Keepmoat for 5 years yet he set up a succession plan that has given the club the best platform for sustaining our wellbeing .We have the best financial platform with Mr Bramall and the Watson family we could ever have had .Thankyou JR !

He had the best wishes of the club in everything he did?

If you mean trying to hijack the club with an offshore hedge fund company without two pennies to rub together then yes I suppose he did. Not once, but twice!

Why would it be personal? All I've done is point out that he didn't do everything in the best interests of the club.

His motives though were in the best interest of the club. He was desperate to try and take the club further ( premier league dream )
The fact that his plan was fundamentally flawed does not mean his motives were also.

It might be your tone that makes Draytonian think it’s a personal issue?

Obviously that whole affair reflects very poorly on JR’s judgement and I’m not trying to justify what he did but there are few fans out there that are as passionate as him and I don’t think he would have ever done anything to intentionally harm the club. It’s a shame that it sours his legacy as up to that point he had been one of the most important figures in the history of the club.

Without JR there may not have been a DRFC. I would suggest he has plenty of pennies to rub together. But there comes a point where you have to say enough is enough. If the current board had the same ambition and committed the same percentage of their wealth as JR did then who knows ......

It’s a long close season without football isn’t it. Please let’s leave this one in the past.

The JR days were some of the best and most exciting imaginable. For that I will forever be grateful. Whatever his motivation for championing the subsequent takeover bids, we should all breathe a collective sigh of relief that they were unsuccessful. We are very well run under the current owners and have lots to be positive about now and in the future. Let’s appreciate the past and not rake up old wounds again.
