I just watched the little piece on bbc about Southgate.
Anyone who saw that will see that the claim that he isn’t passionate about England is ridiculous.

No question he is hound. He wants this more than any of us.
I just hope he gets it. He deserves it.

You have a habit Dickos of saying anything you don’t agree with is rubbish or nonsense.

The squads from 2000 to 2010 were better than we have now? Jesus Christ. Look at the 2008 squad as you’ve mentioned that one.

Keepers Robinson, Foster, Carson - all worse than we have now.

Defence G Neville, Richards, Ferdinand, Terry, Woodgate, Carragher, A Cole, P Neville. So you’d take Ferdinand Terry and Cole from that, otherwise none better than we have now.

Midfield Gerrard, Hargreaves, Lampard, Lennon, Parker, Carrick, Dyer, Downing, Johnson. So you’d take Gerrard and Lampard, everyone else way off the standard of today.

Strikers Rooney, Defoe, Bent. Obviously only Rooney from them.

So you’ve got maybe 6 players on a par or better than we have now, out of the entire squad.

That squad didn’t even qualify
The squad under Sven was better than this and that’s factual, a squad that never got past the quarters

I think Southgate has reached the minimum (again) of what should have been expected of the quality of his squad in a competition given the route we have had to the final. Anybody who denies that would argue that black is blue. In his tenure he has had the easiest route to the final in every competition he’s been involved in. Not saying that any game is easy when you get to a knockout but, if you could choose it yourself you would choose not to meet any of the nations that have won something. Other than beating Germany, we have been beaten every time we have been up against a team who you would consider a tough team to beat. Tactically against Croatia and Italy once going 1-0 up I believe we managed the games p!ss poor and ultimately lost the game on the back of that. In the game against Germany at Wembley I thought despite looking vulnerable to concede, we kept the foot on the peddle and got the win. World Cup against France I thought by a country mile we were the better team. Robbed again by the ref in the first half and Kane missing the penalty we have seen England knocked out that way many times. Tonight I believe we have a group that are better than Spain and I’m confident that if we are brave and take the game to them like we dis against France, we will beat them but, we have to start scoring when we are on top because they will find gaps in us there is no doubt.

Suggesting something that has never been achieved in the history of English football is the minimum expectation is absolute shite

Might have to bring the passenger Kane off. Looks like he's playing injured way off the pace

Kanes a statue. Must be so annoying for Foden etc to keep running past him to close down or effect the game.

If we can stay 0-0 till Garteth brings him off then we’ve a good chance. That is if he’s brought off. Hope the fact it’s a final doesn’t get in the way of making the right decision. He probably souldnt of started but I understand it.

Playing a front 3 with no one to stretch the opposition defence getting found out against a top team.

Afraid Kane has to come off as not contributing much.

If we lose this he’ll regret the loyalty to Kane. He’s been awful all tournament despite a few tap ins. Offered nothing. Imagine if we were playing 11 v 11 not 10.2 v 11

Terrible selections from Southgate.
Kane and Foden have been rubbish all tournament, but he wouldn’t change the starting line up.

If we keep getting to finals we’ll win one eventually. Gripe with Southgate is we don’t seem to offer anything till we go behind. And why has Kane been starting any games he offered nothing all tournament.

Well done Spain much better team who play as a team and are brave in possession. We can learn a lot from them.

Gareth should probably stand down now with his head held high. Got us so much further than before but to get to the next level we need someone who isn’t scared to lose or drop big players who aren’t performing. Only a small improvement and we’re a real threat.

That's a moot point but they showed they are a better TEAM.

Need to get rid of Southgate. Far too negative and completely risk averse.
Should have had players with pace and drive on the pitch.

Well done Spain. Excellent.

Best team won the tournament.

Best team won the final.

A victory for brave, attacking tactics.

A victory for football.

That was rubbish from England tonight, hardly laid a glove on them. Crap performance to say it was a final. Co gratulations to Spain, by far a better managed side.

I can live with that , we lost to a far better team , simple as that .

I don't feel hard done by or frustrated because the best team won and dominated the majority of the game .

Some of our bigger names probably aren't as good at this level as they are portrayed and it showed tonight .

Well done Spain , worthy winners with some outstanding young players .

Spain deserved it. Beat France, Germany and England, that's an amazing achievement.

Probably the end for Southgate but he's been an outstanding England manager.

Kane does well when he has players stretching the game and trying to get behind the defence playing alongside him, like Son, Sane, etc... This team isn't setup for him to be successful.

Then Southgate should have set the team up to play to his strengths. He didn’t so it was a waste of time playing Kane.

Here they go, the pundits who achieved not even finals nor semis at international level offering their "insight".  Shearer/Murphy being by far the worst

"I'm tired of hearing that Southgate should get more from these players. I watched a team with Gerrard, Scholes, Lampard, Beckham, Rooney, Terry, Ashley Cole, and Owen get absolutely nowhere near the heights of Southgate's team.".....well said

He must be injured. Never done the basics this tournament like holding the ball up and laying it off. He’s been levels below where he is normally. Can’t just be a lack of pace either side of him

We need a manager that is prepared to be bold, we get back level then reverted back to letting Spain have the ball, and got punished for it
