Is Tom Anderson still banned for this game? If not, he needs a game. If he is banned, it must be very close to being his last one?The bench, I would think, will be some from today’s squad to help us comply with the competition rules. But, there’s a few that need some game time, so I think GM & Co. will change it around a bit.Nixon, S’Barra, Fleming, Clifton, Close, Ironside probably all come into contention for starts?
Barnsley are a poor team this season.
I hope & believe Grant wants to progress in this competition. The further we progress the more prize money comes into the club, we have players like Lawlor, Nixon, Close who would benefit from game time & I don’t think it’s a competition that Barnsley particularly want to get ‘embroiled in’ so let’s go for it.
There will doubtless be an exception but I suspect there is no record whatsoever of a lower league side getting to any recognisable cup final and getting promoted. Perhaps there is one. The strains are just too much with relatively limited resources. It really is one or the other.
Craig hasn't lived up to the endorsement Rovers fans gave me when he signed but he's a young kid so it may well come as the season progresses .
Two good case studies. Probably more exceptions!
Tyke:Quote Craig hasn't lived up to the endorsement Rovers fans gave me when he signed but he's a young kid so it may well come as the season progresses .He started off slowly with us, too, Tyke so he may well come good. If not, you can always ship back to us in January! Best of luck with the rest of your season (after Tuesday, of course).
Quote from: Chris Black come back on October 27, 2024, 05:26:01 pmTwo good case studies. Probably more exceptions! There's definitely one, CBCB, and it's actually Barnsley themselves. A few seasons back they went to Wembley twice, winning both the FA Trophy and the League 1 play-off final.I can't remember for sure, but I believe it was Millwall they defeated in the play-off final, and I'm pretty sure that Adam Hammill scored in both matches.I reckon Tyke will be able to confirm.
Probably from our point of view a bit of a non event , how could playing a game in a minor competition you are already out of be anything else ? .If this was against Rovers on Saturday in the first round of the FA Cup it would be a different thing altogether .Clarke will probably play all the kids including Jalo ,Yoganathan and Lofthouse who all have had first team starts but other than that it will be lads of 17 and 18 years old I would imagine .If Rovers want to progress and put a team out to do so then they should probably win .If there's over a thousand home fans I'll be amazed .

Success breeds success & builds confidence, would love to see us go through in both competitions this week, but especially Saturday. What are the permutations to go through tonight, obviously a win will do it, but will a draw be enough & then win the shootout?
