MM, they have been made to look poor by a team where everyone has played well and we have played most of the game in their half and the defence and keeper very little Pressure on them, so a well done credit where it's due.
Bailey and the mid field have won us the game., and after the build up to the game and the crap aimed at him Byrne deserves some praise as he never put a foot wrong but will have have bigger tests than they provided, Richie's antics on the side line was  also great entertainment.
  Bailey MOM.

I thought he had a solid game. Could hear him organising the others around him which was needed. He has a little bit of the dark arts about him aswell, some antics off the ball and making the most of a late challenge at the end. We have been lacking anyone with that. Did slice one on edge of box early on and think he missed a header early on too but didnt shake him.

I'd say a solid 6/10 in a quietish game.

Yep, Wellens's apoplexy on the sidelines was a joy to behold.

I think it probably is we needed a gobby git in defence, which he appears to be so maybe Grant does know what we needed. :)

Lot of people totally lost the plot yesterday. Absolutely lost it. The lad may have better games and may have poorer games, but read back this thread with a clear head. People need to get real.

Not arf. McCanns description of him was alot nearer than those on this thread.

Just in the way he looked and handled himself, it was if Conor O'Riordon had never left.  Plus, had a bit more experience to call upon.  Some might say it was a weakened Orient team, but they still had Dom Ballard who was kept very quiet.

Our back 4 tonight we're excellent throughout. Very encouraging.

A really good debut.

He looked calm, assured, alert.
Basically, just what we needed.

There is a comment above that it was a good opportunity for him to make his debut, against a poor side.
But you could equally argue that if we’d had his sort of composure on Saturday we’d have won that game too, against an equally poor side.

Anyway, well done Neill on an excellent debut.

Easiest night he will have had in his career to date. But very switched on, decent contacts on clearances and McGrath also looked comfortable at the side of him.

Filo could have played in the back four tonight with his pipe and slippers on. They were abysmal. One missed header in the first half but apart from that he didn’t put a foot wrong. They didn’t have a shot in anger.

Bit unfair that, Gaz. They were up against the best striker in League 1. The fact that he did nothing might be due to the fact that he wasn't allowed to.

He didn’t have an ounce of service. Extremely comfortably night for all of the back for. Hopefully they have another 19 comfortable ones before the end of the season.

Way too early to call, but it was a satisfying start for him which is pleasing. Far bigger tests lay ahead that’s for sure, so reserving judgement for now. Orient were rank bad and could definitely be in the relegation mix at the end of the season if they carry on this type of form, especially away.

Would very much doubt he can play on Saturday, so it will again be a case of who plays there alongside McGrath.

You can only play what's in front of you, as they say. Did nothing wrong the lad, looks like he'll get the basics right for us - competing, winning duals, headers etc, and he was giving their forwards a tough time which is what you want.

Certainly didn’t get ‘ripped a new one’ scawsby.

I think it’s worth considering that the teams he has found it difficult to break into have been teams on the up with the resources to sign high quality players thus lots of competition. Also the fact that both Stockport and Bradford signed him shows they saw something in him!

We finished above Bradford last season. Doing the double over them in the process. Now we’re signing their deadwood to save us.

Players above him in the pecking order signed this season are Joe Wright and Curtis Tilt. Nothing that would have been out of our reach, especially Tilt who I don’t rate.

Well, he was quality tonight, and not only that he made everyone around him look more solid too.
Maybe next time folk will wait until they’ve seen the chap play before they write paragraphs and paragraphs of negative drivel
They won't

I’m glad it went well tonight like yourself dickos.

I’m still sceptical though as it’s only one game and I have every right to have that opinion.

I hope he proves me wrong so you can continue to act high and mighty. That would be great!

Fine to have the opinion, but the reaction not just by you was massively over the top, we’ve got 7 points from 9, should be 9 from 9,
I think every performance since the Blackpool game has been very good

Do I have your permission to say I think a new singing is a good signing before I’ve seen them play as well? Or is that different? I’ve done that plenty.

Think I’m a balanced poster to be fair. Always positive in the stands and cheer the boys on. There’s a small number of whingers and people who bring them down there. That’s not me.

Thought the Wigan fans on Saturday were poor in doing that.

I probs was OTT on Byrne a bit but Saturday just got to me I think.

He was playing against probably the best striker in the division tonight, he didn’t get a kick

He was integral in the move that got us the pen, albeit from a marginal offside position. Up there in the box fighting for the ball.

That’s what we’ve missed from Pearson

Yeah, I'll hold my hands up on that one. I'd still got bad memories of being sat in the stands at Orient, when he ripped us a new one 3 times.

Thank God we turned up against them this time.

Be interesting to see what happens saturday now. Heard Pearson is in discussions with 2 clubs. Could be bull sh*t but would explain his absences from match day squads of recent if him and GM have had words.

He was at the game last night and came out afterwards in kit for some drills with Grehan and Hanlan.

So IF Pearson leaves then Byrne to replace him makes sense, they are similar players.....which ultimately means we haven't or possibly aren't replacing CO'R?

Personally I thought we needed 2 x CBs without Pearson leaving.

You’re an odd chap aren’t you?

You should be embarrassed with the nonsense you posted about him before you’d seen him play. It’s pretty evident you have no idea about football, so be a good idea to stop embarrassing yourself on here every day

All we need back there is a solid player who does the basics well. Also a player with some experience to help our young centre backs develop, I think he is a decent signing, yes he will have more challenging games but he was nice and steady, which is what we need.
It allows the forwards to have more confidence in doing their jobs, and as we saw Bailey released into a midfield role that gives our team more goal threat.

Especially so now that we have wingers on both sides who are capable of running through defenders and need constant marking to inhibit them getting posession.
