Whoever it is the question for me is, are they being signed in collaboration with the new recruitment process?

I know McCann mentions good character. We’ve had a few of them.

One thing is probably certain, unless we sign either Billy Sharp or Harry Kane then there will be Byrne-esque losing of the plot by a load of people again.

By going so early, it’s not going to be anyone still involved in the play offs.

McGoldrick, Jerry Yates, Alfie May all guesses on Twitter.

Also maybe worth a look at the relegated teams retained lists.

Cameron McGeehan and Sam Hoskins have been offered new deals at Northampton.

My own guess (same as January) I believe Grant really likes Joe Taylor.

Jerry Yates and Alfie May are two of the highest paid in the division - they won't be signing for Rovers anytime soon.

Isn't Frankie Okonronkwo out of contract this summer? Wouldn't surprise me if we went back in for him.

Neither would I and I wouldn't be against that, however I'm not sure he could be described as experienced.

Needs to prove his fitness first, we've signed enough crocs over the years!

To be fair  Grant did reference him when talking about adding experience in January.

What Rovers want is an experienced, exceptional striker, particularly noted for movement, poaching ability, and leadership, who is an inspiration to teammates, and a prolific scorer with 100's of goals under his belt.

There must be somebody out there who would give his all for our club.

I could be wrong but the fact that McCann says great character to me says he’s worked with him before. Hope to God it’s not Eaves.

Same thoughts on the character bit.

Zak Brunt from Boreham Wood been touted as joining Donny - 30 goals/yr in national league and in some eyes, player of the season in that league? Scored winner in play off semi final. I know this should be in rumour mill but I can’t access it on my phone.

Interview with McCann saying he wants 9 players in the summer. But it sounds like Faulkner etc will get a chance to stake a claim first.

I haven't seen or heard anyone confirm the player in question is a striker.

Grants description...

1. Experienced
2. CAN score goals
3. A great character.

If it was a striker,  I'd expect him to say Scores goals, rather than Can score goals, so leads me to believe it's a midfielder and/or a wide player.

That’s a fair point. I guess we will find out fairly soon.

McGoldrick?
Fits with availability and cost, I'd  fancy him signing as well as Frankie Okoronkwo

Sounds like Harry Kane to me! I hope he is up for it, he has a hard job to keep up Billy's standards.

He's on a big old wedge at Barnsley. Can't see us paying even half if what he's currently on.

18 goals this season.

Whoever we get in as a first choice striker we have to ask the same question, can he play the lone striker role that GM will base his forward line on?

To me that's not a player like Mcgoldrick, fine payer that he's been and all.

Surely McGoldrick would replace Elliott Lee, and we would still sign a couple of strikers
