Nevitt is a typical hard man CF using every ounce of muscle and trickery to get the better of Tom and Woody, but he didn't like it at all when he got bested by our two, moaning and falling all over the place gesticulating at the ref every time. Is it part of their make up as a nasty bugger or just gamesmanship? I don't know any more!

Why is it then that we don’t change to PR?
Is it that the two big Party’s don’t want to open the door to the others.

Because when we had the opportunity to do so, we voted not to. Democracy's a bugger int'it?

Is there any wonder that happened?

It was Clegg's policy. He led the campaign in the proportional representation referendum.

And by the time it came, 7 months after the 2010 GE, his shower had fallen to about 8% in the polls and he was the most hated politician in the country, because he'd signed up lock, stock and barrel to the Tories' Austerity plans.

So I’m guessing then that after Labour win the GE that they won’t be proposing a PR vote anytime soon.
Like I said earlier, the big two don’t want it.

Regardless of forms the next government, the winners never mention or consider moving to this more democratic model. Its only ever been parties in opposition or who have no hope of ever achieving who discuss this.

We need to learn from continental Europe in this instance.

I'm quite sure that with PR we would increase the overall number of people who participate in elections, ensuring we don't have periods of overall dominance by individual parties that then force through legislation that's unwanted by the majority and by its very nature is short term thinking that then gets jettisoned when the next election throws up a different flavour of government.

PR would rein in the excess of left and right leaning administrations, force parties to work together and enable longer term planning that would not be abandoned every election cycle.

The issue we have is no mainstream political party have the vision or boll**ks to ever implement this.

Its always been a case or party first before country, for all of them. They don't have the countries best interests at heart, only their own.

Exactly what I said mate.

I reckon more people would get behind National Service as a punishment, for example, police arrest someone for a lesser crime, carrying a weapon, assault, theft... Then they should be charged with time serving in the military and where they would learn discipline and assist with lowering over crowding in prisons. You don't need to enforce it on the 99% of young people who just want to learn/work and keep their heads down.

This is along the same train of thought that I have.
Just don’t let them go to McMillan afternoon tea events unsupervised.

I'm picturing the discussions at Sunak's emergency reboot meeting yesterday.

Sunak: We're f**ked. I've f**ked it up.

Bright Young Adviser: Well, you HAVE been pretty shite, but there's 6 weeks left. Let's think.

Sunak: Who votes for us?

BYA: Racist pensioners and the rich.

Sunak: Well we're giving the rich tax cuts. What do the racist pensioners want?

BYA: Well they want someone to f**k over foreigners and other people's kids. We have to show we can do that, or they'll f**k off and vote for Farage.

Sunak: Well we gave them Brexit and Rwanda (yeah, ok, I know we didn't, but we chucked them the red meat). So that's the foreigners dealt with.

BYA: So. Other people's kids?

Sunak: Ok. How do we show how much we hate them?

BYA: Well. We f**ked their economic futures through Austerity. They can't afford houses. They haven't got pensions. Then we did Brexit to satisfy the old folk. That stops the young ones having the connections with Europe that they want. We took away a year of young folks' lives during COVID to save old people. And never once thanked them. And of course we've got that cracking policy of telling foreign students we don't want them subsidising our young people's university education. So that f**ks both groups.

Sunak: So what have we got left?

BYA: Ummm...

Sunak: Oh f**k it. Let's put them in uniforms and have them clean up dog shite.

And we have a clear leader in the 2024 ludicrous post of the year competition.

Both feted and gilded, Keir Starmer and Rishi Sunak are two sides of the same rotten politics | Aditya Chakrabortty | The Guardian

Unusually, the Guardian actually telling the truth about the choice on offer.
Small differences, but large areas of common interest.

Ldr.

I know you sometimes have trouble with the finer points so let me explain.

1) I don't call ANYONE racist unless they say racist things. I disagree profoundly with you on many things, but as far as I can recall, you've never given any hint of supporting racist ideas. And I have never called you racist.

2) I believe that all of us have the responsibility to confront racist ideas whenever we come across them. Don't you?

3) I don't say the Tory party is trying to appeal to racists in a flippant way. It's shit through so many of their policies.

If you disagree with any of that, be grown up and argue each example I give on its merits. Rather than doing shit amateur psychoanalysis to convince yourself I'm wrong.
You Billy have got serious issues! Get some help!

Phew!

Now I DEFINITELY know I'm ok.
Try and rationalise that comment Why do you think you are ok when you clearly have mental health issues?

When are you finally going to learn the difference between what a Freeport actually is and how one is  run?

Freeports are good.

Mismanaged Freeports are bad.

It's that simple.
so are you saying that none of the above and what the contributor on twitter is not going to happen?

I.e. all.councils and public services privatised?

And they aren't going to be deregulated freeports?
