Thank god the EU have published their requirements for the Trade Negotiations, for a while I was thinking there would be nothing to argue about on here for twelve months.
Let's hope we threaten to walk away on WTO that will get people uptight, and really going on here, even from as far away as Australia.

Err you do know that threatening to walk away on WTO has no been remarketed as have an Australian Style Deal - who better to inform us on the 'details' of that than someone in Australia!

It'll only get folk upset because it is so f**king stupid. The Government's own figures say that a WTO exit would knock 6-9% off GDP. Which is the same sort of effect as losing a major war. So no sane Governme....hang on! I've just seen the error in my logic.

You remember when this was going to be "the easiest negotiation in history".

Looks like one of the arch-Brexiteers has finally realised it isn't.
https://inews.co.uk/news/politics/brexit/iain-duncan-smith-uk-brexit-negotiating-team-not-up-to-job-1888485

But. But. But...

If we hold all the cards, like his lot told us, surely the EU should just cave in and give us what we want?

Serious head on now. Just stop and think what this will look like in 100 years time. The damage Britain did to itself by listening to third-rate no-mark bell-ends like IDS, who know precisely f**k all about anything.

I reckon that'll be £2.5bn per year we have to pay. Excluding the initial training costs. For precisely zero benefit, other than the schadenfreude of making it harder for the EU to export to us.

Still, we took back control, eh?

So are people telling me we took back control from unelected bureaucrats (who had been elected btw, just by governments) so that we can employ more unelected bureaucrats at a greater cost to us?

A lot of them will want to go to a country that they speak the language of. Wouldn't you?

Typical Selby. Ignore the points on our shores and thrap off over problems that other countries have. Like I've said before, the attitude is "I don't care if we lose as long as you don't win."

I am not used to compliments from you Syd, but the most successful politician of the last ten years in Europe apart from Putin is a bit far fetched.

I love the way Selby hides his wind up posts. His genuine belief ones are so ignorant and unpleasant that you can't tell the difference when he tries to play the ignorant and unpleasant caricature. Genius.

David Lammy:

So now you admit the potential economic benefits of a UK-US trade deal are just +0.2% of GDP.

And the cost of Brexit is somewhere between -7.6% and -4.9% of GDP.

In what planet does this boost wages or create jobs for anyone except the Tory Cabinet? https://twitter.com/trussliz/status/1234372953552322560

Liz Truss

@trussliz
Today I am publishing 🇬🇧 objectives for a trade deal with the 🇺🇸

We want an agreement that will benefit all parts of the UK, creating jobs and boosting wages for workers across the nation. #ukusftahttps://www.gov.uk/government/news/liz-truss-kick-starts-uk-us-trade-talks …

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/live/2020/mar/02/brexit-uk-sets-out-its-ambitions-for-trade-deal-with-us-while-refusing-to-back-trumps-claim-of-massive-potential-benefits-live-news

There's a table on the Guardian which I'm unable to cut and paste.

Absolutely insane.

Never in all history has a country, in peacetime, made a deliberate choice to make itself this much poorer.

You people are being generous - it says below 0.2% here - and may be as little as 0.02%

That's 450 times smaller than the expected loss from a No-Deal Brexit according to the governments own calculations.

The German car industry and French fishing fleet had better hurry up or there soon wont be anything less for them to save.

French firm (Thales) wins Royal Navy Type 31 frigates contract

Oh well... voters cannot say they weren't warned.

- no more shipbuilding
- no more car manufactruing

This Tory #brexit is going to
destroy industries and entire communities

... but its what 'the people' voted for !

To be fair Thales is a worldwide company now and has numerous sites in the UK and even a site in Doncaster near Lakeside.

More information on the Govt's figures on the pitifully small boost our economy would get from a trade deal with the USA.

https://mobile.twitter.com/BenChu_/status/1234523136529485832

Lose 4-8% of GDP by cutting ties with the EU.

Gain 0.07-0.22% of GDP by dealing with the USA.

That's a net loss of £90-180bn. Every year.

Enough to build a HS2 every 6-12 months. For the forseeable future.

Still, we took back control, eh?

At what point do Leave supporters start to question themselves?
