''UK health agency to cut 800 jobs and halt routine Covid testing''

''health experts warned that cuts to testing and health protection staff were “irresponsible”, shortsighted, and risked a resurgence of Covid, especially among health and social care workers.

Covid prevalence levels in England fell significantly to 1 in 17 people in the week ending 16 April, compared with 1 in 14 in the previous week. However, officials said they still regard this level as high prevalence.''

.... how the hell can any person or organisation know what the stats are at any given time ?

The stats have dropped as people have to pay for tests and people can not afford to not go to work even if the have COVID and their is no law stopping them from going

Spokes for Hancock says the ruling has cleared him, johnson says 'we didn't know much about the disease'

''''Thousands of hospital patients were allowed to return to their care homes without a Covid test despite a direct plea to the government from major care providers not to allow the practice, the Observer has been told.

As the crisis began to unfold in early March 2020, providers held an emergency meeting with department of health officials in which they urged the government not to force them to accept untested residents. However, weeks later, official advice remained that tests were not mandatory and thousands of residents are thought to have returned to their homes without a negative Covid result.''

Astonishing that this still needs to be pointed out, 2 years in.

I see The Clown hasn't learned yet, claiming they didn't know about asymptomatic transmission when the released patients back to care homes even though SAGE  advised on 20th Jan 2020 that would be the case, even though Patrick Vallance said as early as 13th March that this could be the case, but the mantra was the advice is being followed at all times
Yet another lie to Parliament and he is allowed to get away with it

To be fair, Johnson may well not have known. Given that, as the epidemic was gathering pace, he vanished for a few weeks to sort out his divorce of the mother of (some of) his kids, who herself was being treated for cancer.

Liars gonna lie.
https://mobile.twitter.com/BBCPolitics/status/1519974352485330945

"We ministers were not told about the asymptomatic transmission" when Hancock was sending old folks out of hospitals and back to care homes without tests in March 2020.

Strange, that. Because we knew about it in here a month before that.

https://www.drfc-vsc.co.uk/index.php?topic=275849.msg950736#msg950736

I'd read about it here. So asymptomatic spread had been noted by late January.
https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/study-reports-first-case-of-coronavirus-spread-by-asymptomatic-person/

Hancock wants folk to believe that the nation's finest professional epidemiologists were blissfully unaware of this.

We have a PM and a past health minister that both view the world through the eye in the end of their dicks, is it any wonder that the government response to covid was such a tragedy for 10s of thousands of families.

Britain is not alone ................... when it comes to suspect ppe contracts

Aspen is an Australian company.

''Aspen Medical was given more than $1 billion in government PPE contracts despite no experience in large-scale procurement''

''Aspen Medical has been embroiled in an international criminal probe into corruption and money laundering''

I guess the Eu don't come out of it very well, and the Austrians, French, and Italians who exported it around Europe keeping quiet about the fact it was rife in their ski centres come out of it smelling of roses.

I wasn't point scoring when Germany and other EU nations were being held up as the models that we should have been following or delighting in the fact that France and Germany dished dirt on our Pharma industry and even tried to confiscate and disrupt vaccines destined for this country.
There are brighter sparks on here than me buddy, but I don't forget quite so easily people and organisations that dish it out for their own gain at the expense of my country and the population they get a big sex and travel reply that sticks.

Very fair bpool.  Many said ditching masks was wrong for one, it was so wrong that much of the rest of the world has followed that.

the Guardian regarding the fpn's

Pressed on whether he had seen that people including bereaved families were “devastated” they had observed the Government’s rules while those in power were breaking them, he said:

''I think people were upset''

On May 15th 2020

349 deaths were reported

So the true cost of the virus is now coming to light with the cost of living crisis, medical negligent and job losses (in a few months)

Locking and shutting down a economy would  only result in one thing.

Yet some people have come out of thing making millions/billions, usually the very wealthy !!

Hold on and buckle up it's going to be a bumpy ride.

Not to mention the PPE cronyism and this ..................

''Covid support schemes left ‘open goal’ to fraudsters, says watchdog
Public Accounts Committee report says business department efforts to identify fraud came after trails had ‘long ago gone cold’

''“It offered an open goal to fraudsters and embezzlers and they have cashed in, adding billions and billions to taxpayer woes. These lessons should have been learned from the banking crisis a decade ago, and could have been prepared in the government’s pandemic exercises.”

I work with someone who has 3 holiday cottages. Got 10K each from the government, and then due to staycations was renting for obscene amounts. Made an absolute killing on them !

Bought one with the money received from the government for the first lockdown for another business venture, which is now no longer trading ?
